Crab Nebula
New blog on the kid: Deflating a Star Size, Again, or Two · What Would an Astrophysicist Object, and Why Don't I Buy It? · Supernova of Kepler - 20 000 light years away? · Crab Nebula · Creation vs. Evolution: "Beams of Distant Starlight" · But of Course Astrophysics is a Science, Right ...?
11 light years across.
8100 or at least 4900 light years away.
4900*365 = 1788500
8100*365 = 2956500
11*365 = 4015 light days
4015*24 = 96360 light hours
96360 * 60 = 5781600 light minutes
5781600 / 2956500 = 1.96 light minutes
5781600 / 1788500 = 3.23 light minutes
We are 8 light minutes from the Sun, the Crab Nebula is therefore - if one light day up, as I presume - less than half of that, perhaps even just short of a quarter of that, across.
It is the remains of a supernova observed by the Chinese in ... 1054./HGL
