Distributism is not Primarily Re-Distribution

Since it is clear that Bolshevism, National Socialism, Social Democracy or what Maurras called "Fiscal Socialism" are about redistribution, and since "distributism" nearly sounds like "re-distributism" (just omitting a syllable), let me make it clear, no. Not primarily.

Distributism is about regulating the distribution effects of productive property founding and transfer, and in an important part through the action of those concerned, not the state, so as to avoid the problem to which "re-distribution" (see above) is the answer. That problem being a high degree of capital concentration.

I'm not telling anyone on doles "you'll have more doles" and I'm not telling any worker "you'll own your factory" (that is sometimes they will, if the current owner gives it to them, by commercial transfer or if he does it for free to avoid a problem).

I'm saying more people need to have more numerous and smaller companies as their own. More people need to own the house they live in.

In some cases where capital concentration has gone very far, this may not be achievable without some measure or side-effect of re-distribution. I certainly believe in voluntary re-distribution, that one commonly referred to as alms, sometimes as gifts. I do not believe in bloating the well-fare state until more and more need it because fewer and fewer have a standing "on the market." I believe in a moderate wellfare state, with a small degree of re-distribution. I believe most adult people or especially males should live off what they can get in return for their contribution. And the problem with capital concentration is that rationalising production is pushing more and more people out of making the contributions nearly everyone appreciates.

I'm, as a writer, making one that many do not appreciate, because they do not agree with what I say. Some who don't agree are people who imagine I'm primarily about redistribution. So, they disagree about what they think I say, not about what I say.

I don't need Trads to permanently gives me doles, I need a publishing house. I don't need Commies to help me understand their ideal of re-distribution better, I need them to understand I don't share it./HGL
