Allemagne : 2737, États-Unis : 1218, Japon : 191, France : 178, Canada : 85,

Dr. Rupert Sheldrake is less hampered than I, and neither should be

Is CCP Behind This? · This Line Should Not Be Here · Totalitarian France? · Harrassment on the Cyber · I had 3000 daily visitors · Dr. Rupert Sheldrake is less hampered than I, and neither should be

When I say that the universe contains no radioactive material that has decayed for 4.5 billion years or more, I am not suggesting that radioactive decay has changed speed.

I am not that radical. It does not sit with me. I prefer investigating more modest proposals - like initial ratios of isotopes not being in any way shape or form constants, the one of C14 in the atmosphere has been a fluctuating quasi-contstant since the Fall of Troy, perhaps even since Exodus a few centuries earlier, but it is not a constant. Its quasi-constancy the last 3 or 3 and a half millennia stems from a point of equilibrium where the current medium cosmic radiation and other factors affecting carbon 14 production more or less balance with the decay of C14 in the "atmospheric sample" ... a balance that ceases to occur within samples locked out of the atmosphere, like reeds that were harvested and used for reeed mats in the past. But where the reed mats dated to 3500 BC in the vicinity of En Geddi really harvested from growing in an atmosphere of 100 pmC, which is how they are dated to 3500 BC? Or was there a time before this balance around 100 pmC was reached and they were harvested c. 1935 BC? Because the Amorrheans evacuating En Geddi when Abraham was around 80 years old (Genesis 14 was after his vocation at 75 years, but before the birth of Isaac when he was 86), and if he was born in 2015 BC, that is around 1935 BC. If the pmC was not close to 100, but 82.73, 1935 BC will carbon date around 3485 BC. With the C14 decay still at a constant of 5730 as halflife.

If I say the Universe as high up above earth as the fix stars, I propose that is at one light day up for reasons of theological aesthetics and it is still beyond where we have verified they are not as far down as that, is circling earth every day, because that is how God makes day and night, this would mean their speed through empty space coordinates is 6.28 times or 2 π times the speed of light. Because full circle around us at one light day up is not one light day, the circumference is not the radius, it is rather one light day times two, to get diameter, and then that times π to get the circumference from the diameter. So, in one day, each star up there would circle us at 2 π light days, the speed of such stars would be 2πc, 2 π the speed of light. I am aware that there is a "speed limit" that no body may go through space at more than or even half of the speed of light ... but the proposal is not that the cosmic speed limit has another value elsewhere, it is simply that the speed of light as speed limit applies to bodies through the aether. And I think God is moving the aether around us, for as high up as fix stars (with a velocity of 2πc through the corrdinates) and for as low down as earth's surface (as shown by Foucault's pendulum, a speed which at the equator would be ...

40,075.017 km : 24 h
1,669.792375 km : 1 h or 1669.792375 km/h
1,669,792.375 m : 60 min
27,829.873 m : 1 min
27,829.873 m : 60 sec
463.831 m/s

... 464 m/s). As the aether itself is not subject to this speed limit, and as the small stellar movements through the aether are very much less fast, there is no body moving through the aether at over or even near the speed of light. So, on both issues, I am allowing constants to be constants. This is however questioned by Rupert Sheldrake, PhD, in the following video:

Are Some Catholics Testing My Resignation?

Check this clip by Michael Lofton:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IqJlleA4d3w

There are LOTS of disappointments that fellow Catholics, clergy and lay, could have spared me over the last decade.

Michael Lofton certainly knows I am watching, I have reached out to him with comments since October, and he hasn't answered. Including on e-mails.

IF some clergy want to test my resignation, for one reason or another, and IF they would in doing so want to remind me I need to resign to God's will, which seems in line with some things they already did, Michael Lofton would certainly be someone they could use as a mouthpiece, and he doesn't need to mail me because they know and he knows, I am watching him, and won't miss this clip.

Now, on certain types of venture, testing someone's resignation might be an idea.

Bl. Lucy of Narni had stigmata, and she definitely was tested to the utmost as to her resignation.

St. Bridget of Vadstena was certainly a less resigned person, but her patience was tested too. She was a prophetess, and behind papacy returning from Avignon to Rome.

Stigmata and prophecy are supernatural things, charisms, they come from God. And the Devil likes to fake them. And doing one's work for God with such a life may take the whole life, so being resigned up to when one dies is actually not a loss. And one symptom of such things not being from God but faked by the Devil is lack of resignation.

I have not claimed any such strictly supernatural vocation. I am a writer, not a prophet. I want to marry, not be a monk. I want to feed my family from my writing, not just my own person from God's providence providing a bare minimum. I am not denying God has kept me alive. But I feel very sure someone else than God is keeping me back. And it so happens, God keeping me alive in such a case is repairing for me, just part of what certain others are destroying for me.

That destruction would for instance involve:

  • clergy pretending I'm heterodox
  • when this doesn't work, pretending my writing is prophecy
  • and that the prophecy must be tested
  • which involves testing my resignation "to God's will"
  • which can be done by exposing me to evil men's will. Like their own.

It would also involve clergy pushing this before laymen, like my colleagues in apologetics, like Michael Lofton, like Matt Fradd, like Trent Horn.*

Considering how much Jimmy Akin has spent on attacking a truth of the faith, namely Adam being created directly from the soil, not procreated by non-human parents, and its by now apparent corrolaries of Young Earth Creation, I am not sure I'd consider him a colleague, and the same goes for Karl Keating.

All of above certainly have profited from support from clergy. But none of above are employees of clergy. Some of them have patreon for their videos on youtube as a major income. This means, being an apologist for the Catholic faith does not depend on being promoted by the clergy. It is not a clerical or monastic state. It is in a very real sense private enterprise, and there is no canon law against that.

This means, trying to test me and test my spirituality "before allowing me to become" a Catholic apologist is simply robbing me of the income I could already have as the Catholic apologist and writer that I am. Or at least, it is basically doing that, I am not a prophet and can not answer for whether some of the guys were under some kind of pressure, like Putin telling Bergoglio he would invade Ukraine if I weren't held back (with a fine shade of irony in posing as "the one restraining" and casting me for the role as someone who can only appear when "the one restraining" is out of the way). Wait ... Ukraine already is under a threat of invasion and parts of it are invaded ... no, that isn't it.

It is a very evil habit of certain cults on the Evangelical side, and ma and me went out of one when it began to show signs of it, to try to run the lives of lay members. It's an even more evil thing to do so by intriguing for disappointments and then doing emotional blackmail or even gaslighting against one not satisfied with the results of their actions. If Catholic clergy start doing that kind of thing to people, and it seems they may have done so, that is a sign, among some others (like accepting Evolutionism) that they are not Catholic any more.

Response to "True Orthodox"

Site:

True Orthodox Christianity : Polemics : Roman Catholics
https://www.trueorthodoxy.org/polemics/heretics_roman_catholics.shtml

Citation:

The term ‘Roman Catholic’ refers to the heresy formed around the person of the Pope of Rome (who broke away from the Orthodox Church in 1054 A.D.), which strives to subject the world to the incontrovertible doctrinal and decretal authority of this man, declared to be the “substitute [vicari] of the Son of God”, “Christ on earth”, etc. This is the fundamental and only truly unchanging doctrinal aspect of this sect and its essence; all other characteristics may be changed or ‘developed’ in new directions, of which history already records many examples.

In addition to the dogma of the Pope, the Roman Catholic heresy currently holds the heresies of the Dual Causation of the Holy Spirit, God as a Tripartite Energy (with Created Grace being a further heretical consequence), Purgatory and the Papal Treasury of Merits, Development of Dogma, the Divine Inspiration and Salvific Nature of all Religions (a heresy stemming from the 20th-century Freemasonic takeover of the Vatican), the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, the Sacramentalogy of Opere Operato, etc., as well as the canonical violations of claiming jurisdiction for the Pope in all dioceses, adding to the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed, Rejection of Married Priests, Mutation or Mutilation of the Mysteries of Holy Baptism, Chrismation, Confession, and Lord’s Divine Liturgy and Eucharist (unleavened wafers, removal of the invocation of the Holy Spirit, etc.), and the papal decrees ordering or sanctioning the robbery, torture, murder, enslavement, and other forms of inhuman maltreatment of insubordinate or non-Roman Catholic persons.

In consequence of all this, Roman Catholicism finds a leading place in the list of heresies on this website.

My detailed comment,
by Hans Georg Lundahl
in Paris
on St. Peter's Chair in Rome, 18.I.2023
follows here:

I
Schism in 1054

citing
The term ‘Roman Catholic’ refers to the heresy formed around the person of the Pope of Rome (who broke away from the Orthodox Church in 1054 A.D.),

responding
In these years, Caerularius had been preaching against unleavened bread with the misleading argument that Christ would not have been celebrating the Seder, and that he would therefore still have had leavened bread.

Herein he innovated, and contradicted the Gospel. He also allowed masses reacting to this preaching by committing sacrilege to do no penance, as if they had committed no sacrilege.

This is what Humbert excommunicated him over.

II
Papacy and Ecclesiology I

citing
which strives to subject the world to the incontrovertible doctrinal and decretal authority of this man, declared to be the “substitute [vicari] of the Son of God”, “Christ on earth”, etc.

responding
That the Pope is Vicar of God is apparent when:

  • God is the Good Shepherd and calls Peter to be Shepherd
  • God is Rock and calls Simon Rock
  • God promises to give Peter personally the keys to His Kingdom
  • God promises that whatever he binds and loses shall be bound and losened in Heaven

III
Variations outside papacy

citing
This is the fundamental and only truly unchanging doctrinal aspect of this sect and its essence; all other characteristics may be changed or ‘developed’ in new directions, of which history already records many examples.

responding
Apart from exaggerating the extent of two items of Modernism among Catholics, apart from calling what they reject "variations" when usually older than the schism, it misses the huge constants we have in common with them, like Resurrection of Christ, like Trinity, like Mass being a Sacrifice, like Baptism regenerating, like Confession allowing salvation to be regained by those losing it by sin after Baptism, like prayers to be said for the departed. those praying for Constantine II were not saying he was in Purgatory, or might be in Purgatory, or that he needed or might need their prayers to get sooner to Heaven - but they still claim, as much as we Purgatory believers, he could profit from such prayers. This has not varied.

IV
Holy Spirit

citing
Dual Causation of the Holy Spirit,

responding
I am not sure this is a good description of the dogma, but it is taught prior to the schism and apart from St. Augustine and many admirers of his by:

Patrem autem non esse ipsum Filium, sed habere Filium qui Pater non sit. Filium non esse Patrem sed Filium Dei de Patris esse natura. Spiritum quoque Paraclitum esse, qui nec Pater sit ipse nec Filius, sed a Patre Filioque procedens.

The Father is not the Son, but hath a Son who is not the Father. The Son is not the Father but the Son of God of the nature of the Father. There is also the Holy Ghost, who himself* is neither Father nor Son, but proceeding from the Father and the Son.

V
Trinity and Grace

citing
God as a Tripartite Energy (with Created Grace being a further heretical consequence),

responding
I do not know any statement of the Trinity by Roman Catholics that speaks of "tripartite energy" but I do know that the first council of Toledo condemns the idea of uncreated energies other than the Trinity.

This Trinity is of distinct persons, united in substance, indivisible, indifferenta in virtue and power and majesty. Beyond this we believe no nature to be divine, whether angels whether spirits, whether of some virtue*** that would be believed to be God.

As to "created grace" this does not mean grace is a created substance, as such people calumniate, but refers to a definition like:

Sanctifying grace is a created participation in the life of God.

In what do we participate? In God, therefore grace is substantially uncreated.
Who participates and how? We, in a way showing us creatures. Therefore the participation we have in God is created : it is freely decreed by God, it can begin (in baptism), it can end (in sin), it can grow (to full glory of the saints already in heaven), which are not attributes of God, but of createdness.

It is only as participation that grace is created, as for what it is, it is God, therefore uncreated.

VI
Indulgences

citing
Purgatory and the Papal Treasury of Merits,

responding
Orthodox carry out prayers for the dead and acts of indulgence like inviting to the Kollyva for poor men to pray for the deceased.

VII
Newman

citing
Development of Dogma,

responding
Development of Dogma is not a Catholic dogma. It was the conclusion that John Henry Newman came to as an Anglican, from whence he converted, he came to it as a heretic.

It was published in 1845, when he converted. Same year he also published Retractions of statements against the Catholic faith. This work is very much less read, and probably revokes the very idea of development.

VIII
Nostra Aetate

citing
the Divine Inspiration and Salvific Nature of all Religions (a heresy stemming from the 20th-century Freemasonic takeover of the Vatican),

responding
While Vatican II can be described in many ways as a Freemasonic takeover, Nostra Aetate does not say all religions are as wholes divinely inspired and salvific, only that they have traces of divine inspiration and salvific truth. I have studied it in this essay:

Is Nostra Aetate Saying Buddhists Can Actually Achieve Complete Liberation?

It contains the sentences:

Ecclesia catholica nihil eorum, quae in his religionibus vera et sancta sunt, reicit. ...
The Catholic Church rejects nothing of the things which in these religions are true and holy. ...

With sincere observation She considers the modes of acting and living, those precepts and doctrines,

which, while in much they are in discord with the ones which She Herself is holding and proposing,

haud raro referunt* tamen radium illius Veritatis, quae illuminat omnes homines.
nevertheless not seldom transmit* a beam of that Truth which enlightens all men.

So : a) pagan religions contain doctrines and practises discording from that of the Church, b) but also beams of the Truth that enlightens all men.

There is a difference between standing in the light and standing in a mostly dark room where just one or two beams of light shine in.

To deny that paganisms contain any truth at all, one would have to:

  • presume that identic statements are non-identic when stated by different religions
  • conclude that the ones in false religions have a complete excuse, since no truth already in their way is able to lead them on to the recognition of full truth, should they meet a missionary.

Note, I haven't read what it says on Jews, I think what it says on Muslims is ill formulated, but it is not saying that all religions as they stand in their entireties are divinely inspired or salvific, but that they have parts that are so and other parts that are not. The latter part could be stated much clearer, but it is not directly denied.

IX
Avvakum

citing
the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary,

responding
You are accepting an innovation by Nikon, the Skirzhal of 1666, which was inspired by a Greek from Venice who had studied in Wittenberg(!) under the heretic Luther's disciples.

Apart from Avvakum, the heroic rejector of the Skirzhal, who was inhumanely treated and burned on the stake for holding among other things to the Immaculate Conception, you are also contrdicting the Greek text of Sub tuum praesidium and the opinion of Palamas.

https://trentophilaret.blogspot.com/p/mone-hagne-mone-eulogemene-moni-agni.html

X
Sacramental theology I

citing
the Sacramentalogy of Opere Operato,

responding
Means two things.

  • If we have done the sacrament as we should, we can be sure it is received, even if the giver was sinful and in some cases (Baptism but not Confession) if the receiver was so.
  • The validity of a sacrament is not affected by its being conferred outside the Church, except those that require jurisdiction for validity (like Confession, but not Baptism).

It is true that one Church Father said that heretics confer false sacraments, but that was about Arians, who for instance did not believe the Trinity, which falsifies Baptisms.

XI
Papacy and Ecclesiology II

citing
as well as the canonical violations of claiming jurisdiction for the Pope in all dioceses,

responding
In the second epistle by St. Clement of Rome, he is acting as if having jurisdiction over Corinth.

XII
Creed

citing
adding to the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed,

responding
There is no act of deciding to add. There is no original Greek manuscript available for Constantinople I, it could be a Basileus ordered Chalcedon to retract from the creed instead, even if that was not the opinion of Pope St. Leo III.

In the Third Council of Toledo, we find filioque already included in the Creed, as if it was a matter of tradition, immemorial, and in the first Council, we find it in an explanatory creed or credal statement against the Priscillianists.

XIII
Celibacy

citing
Rejection of Married Priests,

responding
Pope St. Gregory VII indeed forbade married men from becoming priests in the Gregorian Reform, this has not been required of clergy from Eastern Rites, so the Uniates have marrie Deacons and Priests, and Pope Michael restored married priests also for the Latin rite.

The reason was married clergy was often worldly and influenced by worldly rulers, and the upkeep of priestly families is more costly on the faithful or especially on the Church, where the non-cleric sons of clergy inherit goods from the Church.

Nevertheless, the requirement was abolished by Pope Michael, as said.

XIV
Sacramental Theology II

citing
Mutation or Mutilation of the Mysteries of Holy Baptism, Chrismation, Confession,

responding
For Chrismation, I am not sure what is meant. For Confession, I am not sure what is meant.

For Baptism we are concerned with accepting baptism by partial immersion, if it includes the head, and also by pouring down of water.

This seems to have been an accepted practise in the old Church, not for normal baptisms, but for those conducted secretly in prisons for martyrs. Where there was no baptisterium. It was extended to baptism of children for colder countries, since the early Church did not get to inland Germany or Poland or Scandinavia, where in winter the climate is very cold.

If what is meant for Chrismation is that only the forehead is anointed, this could also be from secret conferring of the sacrement to prisoners about to be martyred, in the old Church.

XV
Sacramental Theology III

citing
and Lord’s Divine Liturgy and Eucharist (unleavened wafers, removal of the invocation of the Holy Spirit, etc.),

responding
The unleavened bread has already been answered.

For those who hold that the invocation of the Holy Spirit is what is needed for Christ to be present in the Sacrament, I would agree with Nicolas Cabasilas that this invocation was never removed.

There is a text technically known as epiclesis in which the Father is invoked to send the Holy Spirit onto the bread and wine so that they might for us become body and blood of Christ, after which words there is no Amen or no full stop, since the prayer continues into the next part, the anamnesis "qui pridie quam pateretur" which text also does not end in itself but only with the citation of the words of Christ, after which finally Amen is added. So, the words that we consider are instrumental for transsubstantiation are the ones which end the epiclesis. The reason why we have no epiclesis after them is that they themselves end the epiclesis.

XVI
Misleading views on Crusades, Inquisition

citing
and the papal decrees ordering or sanctioning the robbery, torture, murder, enslavement, and other forms of inhuman maltreatment of insubordinate or non-Roman Catholic persons.

responding
This mischaracterises the Crusades, and most decrees.

No decree allowing enslavement was made, except for Black Africans presumed to be involved in the Islamic states, and therefore in the Islamic slave trades. This was a decree to Portugal, not to the entire Church, and was arguably meant for the countries in Africa that Portugal was then controlling. It was a retaliation for Islamic slave hunt, and not a decree that all and any non-Catholics can be enslaved.

By contrast, decrees were made that slaves taken from "Turks" should be liberated, and also decrees forbidding the enslaving of American First Nations. Encomiendas were at least technically not slave farms, the encomiendero was not in theory allowed to make a private profit on the back of exploiting Indios, the labour was mainly meant for their own sustenance.

In the case of heretics, we do not deal with simple discord from the dogma either with Albigensians or Protestants, but with the one with violent anarchy and the others violent revolution, not very different from the Communist ones more recently.

Avvakum did no comparable evil, he held to the traditions of his fathers, and was involved in no more violent things than boxing, and you Nikonians burned him on the stake.

XVII
Rejection of St. Augustine

Commenting
This is disingenious, since Palamas, apart from accepting the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin, also accepted the Augustinian view of Original sin for all men conceived from Adam and Eve other than the Blessed Virgin and Jesus.

What Would King Lune Have Done?

New blog on the kid : Boarding Schools are Close to Hell, Harry · What Would King Lune Have Done? · Assorted retorts from yahoo boards and elsewhere : Some Comment on Harry in Less Congenial Ways · Therapy - No Thanks

I somehow can very well imagine king Lune feeding his sons Cor and Corin sausages.

I cannot imagine him feeding Corin one sausage less when Cor was retreived as the heir.

And Corin being the stronger boxer somehow doesn't seem to have been a threat to Cor peacefully ruling Archenland ... somehow or other.

It seems a certain Will in a setting of the Hogwart type was pushed into a certain Slytherin behaviour. I will not pretend he came to it naturally on his own. After SSHL, I have not been able to read boarding school stories.

The genre fantasy has not gone away, but the boarding school stories of Burg Finstergrün have seemed since SSHL as ... wishfulfilling fantasies it would be silly and unrealistic in the worst sense to indulge in.

It seems Rowling's boarding school story is a bit better at actually pointing out that bullying exists. Draco Malfoy ... but I am probably not going to read the books full on.

As to the behaviour, I am afraid it is more like Edmund than like Peter in a certain book by the same author I just alluded to.

May I suggest re-reading the Narnian chronicles, if you wish for your children and without telling them this advice of mine, but keeping in mind to yourself read it as a speculum regum ... I'd suggest you start with The Magician's Nephew ... first half involves some scary examples of where a race of giants degenerated as kings in royal Charn ... second half involves a London cabby understanding perfectly what being King actually involves.

And if a certain other prince is having all the fun, don't grudge him./HGL

PS - As for SSHL, it was an intellectual triumph, but twice over an emotional disaster. I had bullies the first two years, and friends undercutting my integrity the second two. I also had real friends, for whom I am thankful. But they were not enough to make my life there a healthy preparation for adult life. And some homeparents and teachers were not total strangers to either of the bad companies. But taking a break from boys I feared in company of a knitting housemother (excuse me, her title was housefather) allowed me a certain advancement in the art of knitting./HGL

PPS - All of above categories, including bullies in more peaceful moments, were involved in sparring me in a somewhat more recognised masculine art, namely debates. I very much hate the guts of people right now who are trying to take that art or my public display of it from me./HGL

No. It hasn't.

One further observation, 17:30:

"cognitive behaviour therapy"

Is not to be imposed and reimposed on unwilling, especially who have already shown more than once that they have borne provocation after provocation without violence.

My debates, they are debates. They cannot justly be reduced to someone's trying to help me with cognitive therapy.

Nietzsche was brought up at 26:46:

Nietzsche is here following Robespierre and his master Beccaria.

When a punishment that's not death or prison for life has been served, liberty should be restored.

Answers in Genesis has a video about The Emperor's New Clothes. Or starting with it. Watch it, it's good:

This Drives Evolutionists Crazy, but It’s True
Answers in Genesis, 13 Jan. 2023
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyATE9StbK8

Before we get back to the beginning of the video, with Emperor's new clothes, how about speaking of the end?

Who has an interest indecreasing, not so much genes, as memes, and specifically this case, the memes of:

  • Catholicism
  • Young Earth Creationism
  • Geocentrism
  • Opposition to "Responsabilism" (i e taking responsability for people or situations outside one's own life that one deems "irresponsible")
  • All of Above Combined ...?

One would spontaneously consider the following:

  • Protestants with a huge bitterness against Catholics
  • Evolutionists with a huge bitterness against Young Earth Creationists
  • Heliocentrics and Big Bang astronomers with a huge bitterness against what they consider "Bronze Age astronomy"
  • Psychiatrists and agents of Child Protective Services, and Policemen close to these
  • and alliances between these.

In fact, there are other cases. Some who syncretistically believe both Catholicism and Evolution (which are incompatible) would also join forces with above, and this because they defend their syncretism by pretending, curiously and against historical actual evidence, for instance that Young Earth Creationism is somehow inherently Protestant. Or inherently racist.

Now, back to the beginning. The Emperor's New Clothes is about self doubt and consequent self censorship boosting a consensus ...

I had commented on a video about radioactive dating. Erica aka Gutsick Gibbon had summarised as the Young Earth Creationist position one that is actually that of one particular school, namely that of Setterfield. My comment was a statement that while I am Young Earth Creationist, I am not Setterfieldian, and I felt strawmanned. Here is another statement of mine to this effect:

Creation vs. Evolution : Setterfield
https://creavsevolu.blogspot.com/2017/05/setterfield.html

I had previously debated one "Antik Sur" on why I still disagree with non-Biblical chronology where it gets anti-Biblical. Anyway, the starting point is, I do not like Setterfield subscribe to radiometric dates like 4.5 billion years, this has nothing to do with agreeing with Setterfield, I think other factors than stability of decay rate were wrongly reconstructed and I think the reconstruction was wrong based on its conflict with the Bible. That becomes the focus of the thread 2 weeks ago. 11 hours ago (2 PM Paris time), I get the responses from L M, which I conflate into one:

@Hans-Georg Lundahl Did you know the Abrahamic god is based on Canaanite mythology? Maybe look into the actual scholarship.

According to the general consensus of scholarship (even critical Christian scholars), YHWH was originally incorporated into the Canaanite pantheon as a son of the Canaanite high god El before inheriting the top spot in the pantheon and El's wife Athirat (Asherah) before religious reforms. If you want to see if El is fictional, just read his mythology in the Ugaritic/Canaanite texts.

"I should add here that it is very clear from the grammar that the noun nachalah in v. 9 should be translated “inheritance.” Yahweh receives Israel as his “inheritance” (nachalah), just as the other sons of El received their nations as their inheritance (nachal, v. 8). With this verb, especially in the Hiphil, the object is always what is being given as an inheritance. Thus, Israel is given to Yahweh as his inheritance. ((Here I’m indebted to Dan McClellan.)) It would make no sense for Elyon to give himself an inheritance. Moreover, as I’ve argued elsewhere, it is not just the Gentile nations that are divided up according to the number of the sons of El. It is all of humankind, i.e., “the sons of Adam.” This clearly includes Israel. And the sons of Adam are not divided up according to the number of the sons of El, plus one (i.e., plus Elyon). They are divided up, according to the text, solely according to the number of the sons of El. Thus, that Yahweh receives Israel as his inheritance makes Yahweh one of the sons of El mentioned in v. 8. Any other construal of the text would constitute its rewriting."

@Hans-Georg Lundahl And yes, according to the actual scholarship, the Israelites borrowed and modified the myths from their older surrounding myths and cultures. You can refer to the scholarship below as well.

The Enuma Elish would later be the inspiration for the Hebrew scribes who created the text now known as the biblical Book of Genesis. Prior to the 19th century CE, the Bible was considered the oldest book in the world and its narratives were thought to be completely original. In the mid-19th century CE, however, European museums, as well as academic and religious institutions, sponsored excavations in Mesopotamia to find physical evidence for historical corroboration of the stories in the Bible. **These excavations found quite the opposite, however, in that, once cuneiform was translated, it was understood that a number of biblical narratives were Mesopotamian in origin.**

Famous stories such as the Fall of Man and the Great Flood were originally conceived and written down in Sumer, translated and modified later in Babylon, and reworked by the Assyrians **before they were used by the Hebrew scribes for the versions which appear in the Bible.**

**In revising the Mesopotamian creation story for their own ends, the Hebrew scribes tightened the narrative and the focus but retained the concept of the all-powerful deity who brings order from chaos.** Marduk, in the Enuma Elish, establishes the recognizable order of the world - just as God does in the Genesis tale - and human beings are expected to recognize this great gift and honor the deity through service.

"Enuma Elish - The Babylonian Epic of Creation - Full Text - World History Encyclopedia"

Also discussed by Professor Christine Hayes at Yale University in her 1st lecture of the series on the Hebrew Bible from 8:50 to 14:30 minutes, lecture 3 from 28:30 to 41:35 minutes, lecture 4 from 0:00 up to 21:30 minutes and 24:00 up to 35:30 minutes and lecture 7 from 24:20 to 25:10 minutes.

From a Biblical scholar:

"Many stories in the ancient world have their origins in other stories and were borrowed and modified from other or earlier peoples. For instance, many of the stories now preserved in the Bible are **modified** versions of stories that existed in the cultures and traditions of Israel’s **older** contemporaries. Stories about the creation of the universe, a cataclysmic universal flood, digging wells as land markers, the naming of important cultic sites, gods giving laws to their people, and even stories about gods decreeing the possession of land to their people were all part of the cultural and literary matrix of the ancient Near East. Biblical scribes freely **adopted and modified** these stories as a means to express their own identity, origins, and customs."

I answer them in two comments, also conflated into one:

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@L M Look, doing research is one thing. Getting into a book list or video list before you give even any kind of reason is a stupidity I'll not make.

The nearest patch of a reason you gave is, and I'm spelling out what I think you mean:

  • we know the Bible and we know Canaanite myths
  • we can compare and see how much is similar
  • we can date and see which is older.

The first involves overestimating your knowledge of Canaanite myth, the second depends on your lack of knowledge of the Bible and the third depends on carbon dates that are inflated due to lower carbon 14 back then.

@L M I am sorry, some of what I guessed you actually spelled out in your Gish Gallop (hope Duane won't mind too much).

Enuma Elish cannot be the inspiration for the book of Genesis. It could be inspiration for some of the chapters in it, presuming, both of which are unproven:

  • Enuma Elish were significantly older than Genesis
  • and neither were based on facts so that their similarities independently reflect the facts.

In other words. I start out with a very specific criticism directly on the topic of Erica's criticism of de facto Setterfield but nominally all of Young Earth Creationism. I end up with a very broad suggestion that:

  • I should "ditch the Abrahamic God"
  • and if I did, I would automatically bend over for the more complex stuff, like radiometric dating.

That's a fairly apt reminder that the Evolutionist community actually does consider Creationists as intellectually deficient (like the admirers of the Emperor's new clothes), and also of the thing Cardinal Faulhaber said - wo der Glaube geht hinaus, da geht der Aberglaube hinein. Where faith leaves, superstition enters. But as seen, it's not just superstition, it's superstition plus infantilisation of those refusing to share it.

As in - "we see the Emperor's New Clothes because we are smart, and we want people who aren't to be too poor to reproduce."

L M wasn't simply arguing against me, he or she was telling me I needed to "get an education" - which is prohibitive at age 54.

Sword or Anvil?

Where a poem compares the Bible to an anvil, the Bible quote compares it to a sword. Here are both in a link:

Or did they take help, or unsolicited get help from people less implied in "human evolution" - so that science may not be sullied by a detectable conspiracy?

It can be remarked, the morning when the lots of views came, between 4 and 8 am on the 28.XII, the views came first from Germany, then from Sweden. But that could of course be arranged from Russia with NordVPN .../HGL

PS, I found them via two videos, among them this one:

So, first, both of the videos pretend that man evolved intelligence because he needed to. This is Lamarckism, not the actual, pretendedly scientific, view of evolution.

Second, this one used time machines and a lab monkey that could talk, from Planet of the Apes. This is not really being "Against" Myths, this is using myths quite a lot themselves.

Third, the approach is very far from "evidence based" and it is ironic in a very dark way that they came out with this video sponsored by a Mental Health Center, and that one self dubbed clinic for evidence based psychotherapy.

Fourth, them doing so means that some kind of MHC is pretending Creationism is a mental disease. That is a very dark think.

Fifth, it came from Russia. Fatima message : Russia will spread its errors through the world. Yeah, looks like it./HGL

Magnus Kesselmark
Evidence?! Were you there on mt Sinai?

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@Magnus Kesselmark No, but Moses was.

And Moses was surrounded by people who knew he wasn't just another delirious guy, because they had recently walked over the bottom of the Red Sea when he held out his staff.

And those people validated Moses' record of the Exodus, otherwise they wouldn't have believed him.

I think I already said: For Flood, and Exodus - no we weren't there, but as for ww-ii - we know it by basically testimonial records from people who were there.

Magnus Kesselmark
@Hans-Georg Lundahl And signed witness repåorts from these people?! Dion't see them anywhere. There should be references to them, at least in my Swedish bible ... but no! A nice story, but factual ... allow me to at least smile a little.

@Hans-Georg Lundahl You weren't there and no evidence ... maybe the bhelievers of this nonsense should stop spreading the nazi propaganda from the bible and shut the f*** up.
Many countries have a religious freedom, which for me means - FREEDOM FROM RELIGION.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@Magnus Kesselmark It's propaganda against the Bible that is likely to please Mr. Rosenberg or Himmler.

Have you decided between a carreere as Sturmbannführer and one as Soviet Politruk? Or are you finding a place between them "lagom" for you?

@Magnus Kesselmark Signed witness reports is for forensic witness, or witness in casualty reports, not the way historic witness is transmitted.

Ha det så trefligt!

Ce qui se laisse traduire par:

Magnus Kesselmark
Des preuves ? ! Étiez-vous là sur le mont Sinaï?

Hans-Georg Lundahl
