https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coracle#cite_note-2

In those days · in those ancient days
In those nights · in those ancient nights
In those years · in those far off years

Floricel

I would like many states to not be so flooded with farm workers from countries with cheaper labour.

One way is to punish the immigrant before sending the immigrant back.

Another way may or may not involve sending the immigrant back, but involves forcing the employer to pay full wages, so it becomes less rentable for them to encourage illegal immigration for a time and then themselves send immigrants back before they would acquire rights for having worked in the country.

But on top of sending back to also take away a mother from her children for ten months, that is excessive, even for the ones who prefer the first way.

However, wall builder Trump seems to give more hope than Norway (see previous):

Floricel's petition was granted and her new bond hearing is less than one week away; she is so close to getting reunited with her children after 10 months of being in detention and we need your help once again!!

Oh, wait, you mean the immigration police are not totally run by the people of Norwegian "Barnevernet"?

That said, I would encourage you to support the petition for Floricel, and when it comes to young Kai in Norway, perhaps you should be prepared for more than just signing petitions.

A personal summary, by me? Well, a boy of twelve is taken out of school for very good reasons, namely he is being harrassed, as a newcomer, even if a citizen. His parents do what they can by homescholing him instead and the Norwegian "Barnevernet" defends the school monopoly, or nearly such of the state, by dragging the boy from his parents. Fleksnes is dead. If he made a comedy about Norwegian "Barnevernet", maybe the Norwegians would understand, but Rolv Wesenlund is dead. Now we have to write, and I can't do a think like this in comedy stile./HGL

Oh, here is a comic twist ...

Although home education is explicitly permitted in Norway, instead of respecting the Kristiansens’ right to make this decision, CPS and police agents chased Kai down like a common criminal. They tackled him in front of his mother and neighbors. Ignoring Kai’s screams, the agents smothered him in the snow to subdue him.

Obviously some of those policemen are parents to the guys who bullied him in school, one can conclude? Or do they not even have their parental feelings as an excuse?/HGL

Catholics or Protestants?

I recall some year ago denouncing a certain Protestant page on which this picture was shown, and the names of certain dignitaries were given, I think the Landesbischof of Saxony, Friedrich Otto Coch, and the Reichsbischof Ludwig Müller were named.

But the page was taken down, here is a picture which I think I recall from it ... or, I am frankly, rather certain, I would only have it confirmed:

Are the men in episcopal or quasiepiscopal garments Catholic clergy? Or are they Coch and Müller, two Protestants? Or perhaps other Protestants?

I'll pose the question to people who might know ... FB, quora, perhaps elsewhere, but feel free to comment, if you have knowledge of it./HGL

Yesterday Someone Told Me Nobody Wanted to Read "My Books"

For some reason, he brought me into a position of speaking of my project of getting a paper publisher on top of the internet publication.

Since he brought up what I should do, I told him to read. And he told me nobody wanted to read me, basically, literally, nobody wanted to read "my books". Well, seems a few were disagreeing with him between 5 Feb 2018 16:00 and 12 Feb 2018 15:00.

France : 24 + 1 + 47 + 5 + 1 + 3649 + 5 + 5 + 46 + 16 + 8 + 1 + 7 + 6 + 7 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 59 = 3898

For some of the bigger blogs, this is incomplete. If last stat on top ten for that blog is "9", perhaps there are other countries with 9 or fewer where it was also read.

I note, one of my blogs got three readers from Saudi Arabia. It is rare, but it happens./HGL

Stellar Radiuses (If Sphere of Fix Stars is One Light Day Up)

Working method: I took a French wiki list of nearby stars, Liste d'étoiles et de naines brunes les plus proches, working my way from 1 to 20, and for each noting the diverse, if any, distances in "light years". Next line I convert this to light days. Since there is one light day up to the stars and since the radius is proportional to the distance, I last divide the supposed radius of the star wit the number of supposed light days.

She deserves it because there are French who need to know Marie Antoinette did not say "let them eat brioche".

She deserves it, because there are Protestants (and some wayward Catholics) who need to know that Albigensians were not slaughtered for being Bible believing Christians.

And perhaps I deserve it too over certain Catholic institutions depriving me of a livelihood as a writer, by poopooing whatever I had to say and by recommending people to touch my blogs, if it all, with long pincers. Perhaps, not sure if that kind of professor at Belmont Abbey who wrote the bad reviews did some things about my writing too.

Read the comment by Ann Margaret Lewis ....

Hey, Belmont Abbey, listen up.

You may find this whole thing hilarious, but let me point out a simple fact to you. Your drama prof started this whole thing. He's been hounding this woman for 10 years. Honestly, has it been worth it to you? This amusement?

Now, I might be a lowly high school teacher of English and drama in a Catholic high school, but I am looking at the behavior of YOUR staff as rather petty and unprofessional to say the least. ...

Never? Even Indirectly?

From TFP*:

Finally, the third thing that must be done to end the Dreamer nightmare is never to reward those who break the law either directly or indirectly. Respect for the law is one of the foundations of a civilized political order. When the rule of law is disregarded, as in the case of parents who enter illegally with their children, it is a matter that affects the common good. Children are taught no good lessons when they see the illegal acts of their parents rewarded with benefits.

My emphasis.

While respect for the law is indeed one of the foundations of a good political order, so is the realisation that the law of the land is subject to the law of God.

So is the realisation that some situations do require breaking and reward breaking the law of the land.

So is the realisation that abstaining from a punishment and rewarding even a misjudgement on that matter are two things.

It seems, Arizona is trying to make it law of the land to not help illegal immigrants even survive. This is against the law of God.

Si non pasti, occidisti.

A Mexican trying to cross the border is not Osama Bin Laden. Even helping Osama survive (for those who did so, until he was killed) is not like being a terrorist.

So, between an Arizona sheriff and a jailed person charged with helping immigrants survive, nota bene, not arrive, but survive while trying to, it is ludicrous to pretend that "respect of the law" is a good requiring respect for a sheriff spilling out water on sand or disrespect for Scott Daniel Warren** for "breaking the law". The corporeal acts of mercy do not break the law of God.

There is another paragraph or sentence to adress in Horvath's* plan.

First, as in all legal matters, minors must be represented by their lawful parents or legal guardians, not put on a separate path. DACA encourages the separation of the teenager from their illegal parents. It necessarily breaks up families, by giving a deferment to one but not the other.

I read in the French youth mag Phosphore about one Ulises. He is born in US, but to parents illegally here. He is worried his father will be deported to Spain and his mother to Ecuador, their lands of origin.

If such a deportation takes place, this type of ending of DACA is also breaking up families.

Of course, a joint deportation could take place either to Spain or to Ecuador - and in either land the still united family would involve two of three persons being strangers in it.

One thing which could be done, is reforming expulsion, so it is not automatically to land of origin.

If I am wrong on what the legislation is, if a solution is already foreseen which is not totally wicked, supposing the parents are either married or could marry, well, so are many others. And even so, Ulises would either loose his parents or be expulsed (if that is the case) from the land where he was born.

Keeping a family together is one of the valid reasons for breaking the law of the land to keep the law of God. Requiring this to be "not rewarded" in a sense that it should be punished, is wicked. If ten people came illegally one after another from Mexico and all lived together in Mexico and all now live together in US, requiring them to leave US and offering them to go back to where they came from in Mexico as first option is obviously not monstruous.

But some doings are. There is a Prussian respect for the law, which comes close to the Prussian respect for authorities, from which we have the Prussian comedy of the Captain of Köpenick. When a rule not according to God's law is mistaken for law of the land, the results can be less comic, than in Köpenick.

In Austria, under Dollfuss and Schuschnigg, many Czechs were being deported to Czechoslovakia as a certain country was then called, now it is Czechia, one country, and Slovakia, another one. But they were arriving as industrial workers, putting German-Austrians (that is Austrian nationals) out of work, in industries, and on top of that they were propagating Communism. But what is more, they were assembled and deported back with very short notice. You have no case of a Czech and a Serbian couple being separated or even menaced with it after having children in Austria. I have not checked, but in my heart I know. You also have no Sonora Desert between Vienna and Prague, and I am also very sure someone giving warm shelter to an illegally residing Czech in winter was not punished for that act. Dollfuss and Schuschnigg were Catholics, and Father Ignaz Seipel SJ who had been father confessor of them in a previous government was the one writing Wirtschaftsethische Lehre der Kirchenväter which quoted for instance St Ambrose. I would be shocked if any Austrian went to prison simply for giving hot soup to a Czech in winter. In 1934-38. After 38, as we know, Austria went under the power of one who admired Prussia.

Bonum Festum Purificationis

Christifidelibus lectoribus exopto./HGL

Purificatio beatae Mariae Virginis, quae a Graecis Hypapante Domini appellatur.

Rigid and insecure navel-gazer?

Despite the sense of belonging to a previous era, the conference was nevertheless upbeat about the future of the Latin Mass even under a pope who has openly questioned why any young person would seek out the old rite and disparaged traditionalists as rigid and insecure navel-gazers.*

Under a what who has openly questioned, etc? No, I don't think Bergoglio is the Pope.

Both 2007 and 2017, I was outside the community of "Extra-Ordinary Form". In 2007, I was Romanian Orthodox, now I am "Bawdenite" or Orthopapist accepting the claim of Pope Michael (civil name David Bawden). Neither of which would recognise the new liturgy as ordinary form of liturgy of the Church of Christ.

In 2007, while I thought, from the outside, it was a good and promising step, I would now agree that it is too little.

The new liturgy is a "stepmother" and would be an "illegitimate wife" to the "Pope" - if he were so. Credits to Rev. Puga for the comparison. Recognition as Extra-Ordinary form does not cut it with me.

While it is too little to me, it seems to be somewhat too much to the successor in non-papacy, Bergoglio.

The current pope, though, let his thoughts known during a recent speech to an Italian liturgical society. He said there was no need to rethink the decisions that led to the liturgy reforms from the Second Vatican Council, the 1962-65 meetings that modernized the Catholic Church.

"We can affirm with security and magisterial authority that the liturgical reforms are irreversible," he said in one of his longest and most articulate speeches to date on the liturgy. It made no mention, in either the text or the footnotes, of Benedict's liturgical decree on the Latin Mass.

"Current pope" is obviously code for Bergoglio.

The new liturgy as such was not decided directly on Vatican II. It was introduced in a later step, 1969-70.

In 1994, there was a further step, the indications about Our Lord born 5199 after Creation and 2957 after Flood have been replaced (in the "Ordinary form" or new liturgy) by "unknown ages" and "several thousand years". I am not sure if Eastern rite Uniates had 5199 or 5509, 2957 or 3367. I am not sure if they kept what they had, or also replaced it.

Even the first step was bad, it involves a new offertory. A Catholic priest (as I thought I recalled him) or layman or not the parish priest (as he was saying on the occasion was saying it was not Cain's lack of wheat which made his sacrifice invalid. Of course not, but my point is, using some other "fruit of the earth" than wheat would now make the Eucharistic sacrifice invalid. And Cain back then most probably did try a burnt offering of some other thing than wheat.

According to this study here:

Cain Did Not Sacrifice Wheat
http://creavsevolu.blogspot.com/2018/01/cain-did-not-sacrifice-wheat.html

Based on this study here, of recent archaeological evidence:

Origin of Wheat?
http://assortedretorts.blogspot.com/2018/01/origin-of-wheat.html

Which in turn is archaeological evidence presented by BBC, here:

So, it could be, Cain's sacrifice has prefigured the priests who have tried to consecrate maize bread and who have thereby committed sacrilege, in the very decade when the new liturgy was proclaimed.

That is why I stand by the liturgy which also was defended by the Council of Trent, and for the changing of which to the very recent "new liturgy", Protestants, representing a theology and most notably "eucharistology" condemned by Trent, were invited as observers.

So, to some this makes me a "rigid and insecure navel-gazer" ... wonder if that one is already in "Pope Francis Book of Insults"? Hmmmm .... "intellectual aristocrat" apparently is. Whyever that would be an insult. Also, funny the link was to a page having changed link. It redirects to the main page of a Vatican news source.
