Are English speakers deaf? Bell and Pell?

George Pell

Accused of sexual abuse, was convicted and sent to prison, but eventually vindicated as innocent.

George Bell (bishop)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Bell_(bishop)

George Bell is honoured with a commemoration in the Church of England on 3 October.

In other words, very venerated.

As an "ally of the Confessing Church" (i e of Bonnhoeffer, of a theologic progressive) he was probably himself a progressive.

However, this venerated man, seems to have been actually guilty.

An angel shouted "go for George Bell" and the deaf English speakers in Oz went for George Pell instead.

Yes, there is a real news story that the Anglican progressive did such an act:

However, there is a news story that this was settled in a bad way, since the accused was already dead and had could not defend himself:

The Guardian : Anglican church 'rushed to judgment' in George Bell child abuse case
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/dec/15/george-bell-anglican-church-rushed-to-judgment-child-abuse-carlile-report

So, there is not a real court process that says George Bell was guilty. There is also not a real court process clearing him, unlike for George Pell.

So, the guilty bishop, or very probably so, after doing time, considered Catholicism a safe haven, not for a ministry which he could possibly abuse again, but for a few years of peace and anonymity and getting right with God.

Given that he stated he loved the Church of England, i e had no theological qualms about it, it is arguable he was an ecumenical and progressive leaning person.

But how did the Catholic Church react?

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Arundel and Brighton said in a statement: "We confirm that Peter Ball has been in contact with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton, in which diocese he now lives, expressing an interest in becoming a member of the Catholic Church.

"This matter is subject to discussions between Clifton Diocese and the statutory authorities, who are the lead with regards to Peter Ball's risk management in the community."

In other words, while they were not blocking Peter Ball from saving his soul, they were also not taking risks for the children of their community.
