From Havamal, a free adaptation of a well known stanza

Cat's die,
kindred die
- to be candid, so do you;
one thing wot I,
that will not die:
the word on a dead dude.

https://news.ohmymag.com/societe/covid-19-la-sixieme-vague-trop-forte-en-france-macron-envisage-le-retour-de-cette-restriction-sanitaire_art149271.html

Shooting in Uvalde

Shooting in Uvalde · I Read Up on the Aftermath of an Awful Shooting

I read this:

Libération, Friday 27th of May 2022, page 7 (continuing an article from previous page).

It means, "[t]he son, Abraham, went to highschool with the shooter, without really knowing him. He knew nothing of his violent family background or the bullying he underwent from his comrades, notably for his stutter."

Some are asking why mass shootings are more common in the US. Well, there was one in Mexico a few years ago, that's not US, not same gun laws. Same thing for Germany, Winnenden 2009:

23.07.2009 - 15:57 Uhr

Bild : Amokläufer schrieb Frustbrief an Eltern
https://www.bild.de/news/2009/motiv-fuer-das-massaker-7649076.bild.html

It means : "[t]he day after the massacre in Winnenden - the guy-who-went-amuck Tim Kretschmer (†17) hadn't preannouced his deed, hadn't written any good buy letter. Criminologists and Psychologists are trying to find a motive for the massacre with 16 dead bodies. Indeed, there seem now to exist some starting points for a motive, the police announces. Details will be given from noon.

... Fabienne B. (12) came to know Tim via a friend, she says: the guy-who-went-amuck had been feeling bullied. Only three weeks earler he had shown her a letter: "he wrote his parents telling he was suffering and could bear it no more." Comrades had been making jokes and teachers had ignored him.

So, you want German restrictions or Mexican restrictions on guns? How about a world wide ban on states forcing school attendance?

In Germany it is especially cynic, the Victors in 1945 took away so much else of National Socialism, bad things that should be taken away, like eugenics, and sometimes good things, like banning the Bavarian royalist party, which the National Socialists had also banned, but, they did not ban school compulsion, despite this being a heritage from Hitler and Bohrmann back in 1938, the Reichsschulgesetz. I wrote on this with the title Wann hat Hitler mal endlich vertiggetötet? which translates like "shouldn't Hitler be done with killing by now?"/HGL

PS, Canada has fortunately banned schools causing mass death by TB, and enforced attendance at them for First Nations, but it seems schools in other formats with enforced attendance for "everyone" (residing in the general area) are also causing mass deaths, in Uvalde, Winnenden and other places. Shouldn't Canada speak up against school compulsion? Wait, they might be hampered by a JP-III/HGL

Shireen Abu Akleh, tuée 11.V.2022

1) Des sources israëliennes prétendent que, d'une manière ou autre, c'était une balle palestinienne qui l'a tuait;
2) CNN a analysé assez bien, selon Libération, vendredi 27 mai, 2022, que c'était une balle de Tsahal, c'étaient des balles tirées une à une, c'était après un moment calme, et non pas pendant une affrontation;

Americans in Jerusalem Are Helping Kick Out Palestinians

Copyright Laws and Casuistry

"Ultracrepidarianism" · Who Coined the Term, Anyway? · Copyright Laws and Casuistry

A. Copyright Law and Catholics
https://www.betrayedcatholics.com/free-content/2-ethics-in-catholic-writing/copyright-law-and-catholics/

Here is a little thing I disagree on:

None of what appears below — in whole or in part — may be used without the express and written permission of the author.

Why do I disagree? Because, this is contrary to:
a) the age old practise prior to modern copyright laws
b) the content of current copyright law.

To the latter, she feels we are obliged:

As Rev. Francis J. Connell, writing for “The American Ecclesiastical Review” stated in the 1950s: “Theologians agree that the civil laws upholding the right of an author to the benefit of his writings and forbidding others to publish them without permission bind in conscience, because such laws are a reasonable determination of the natural-law right of a person to the fruits of his intellectual genius, (Aertnys-Damon, Theologia moralis, Turin, 1950)…When a writer plagiarizes, publishing as his own what is taken from another’s published writings, this is a sin against justice… a mortal sin if [harm] is great…One who illicitly publishes another’s writings, or portions of them, to the financial detriment of the author…is bound to restitution. Some hold that this obligation binds only after a court sentence, but the more probable opinion is that even prior to such a sentence, this obligation must be fulfilled by the guilty party, (Aertnys-Damon).”

Now, the civil laws of the United States, whereof Theresa Stanford Benns is a citizen, do agree for fair use excerpts, even without prior permission.

I do not intend in any way, shape or form to present myself as having myself written what T. S. Benns wrote. But whether myself or Pope Michael (whom she helped elect) or Introibo blogger (who compared her to a surgeon forgetting a scalpel in a patient) should have the right to criticise and therefore quote her conclusions.

Now, let's be clear on some backstory. She quoted a Casuist as saying:

The following is taken from “The Casuist,” Vol. IV: “All theologians are agreed that an author or writer, architect or draftsmen has a strict right to the fruits of his genius. And this right of ownership in the fruits of one’s intellectual labor is founded in the law of nature. For if it be the law of nature that men have a right to the labor of their hands, with much more reason ought they to have an exclusive right to the labor of their brains. And if the good of civilized society requires that a man be secured by law in the peaceful possession of whatever property he has acquired by his industry, with much more reasons must we hold that the good of civilized society requires that men be secure in the peaceful possession of that higher and more valuable property, namely the results of intellectual and artistic talent. ... The editor quotes Rev. Tanquerey as his source for these comments. The editor also adds that such theft is a sin against the seventh commandment and full monetary restitution must be made.

In old Roman law, your ownership to a text ceased the moment someone else held it in his hand. This means, if you wanted to make a profit, you made a deal with a bookseller. He made a payment, you had your money and now he owned your text - a bit like comic strips writer selling to newspapers. Once the bookseller had sold a copy, he could not stop anyone else from actually copying and selling as freely as he liked.

In a royal privilege, during the Ancien Régime, in order for authors to be able to devote more time to their second work, the Ancien Régime arranged that (for a period of ten years?), the author had monopoly on the monetisation of his text, and any bookseller wanting to use it needed to have an arrangement with him. For inventors, the patent law was somewhat different, the author of an invention had 15 years right to his invention, and it was forfeited if within 1 year he had omitted to take measures to make it fruitful.

As to literary authors, writers, there was a "formalisation" of such rights (concerning theatre authors) by the laws of the French Revolution: 17th Jan. 1791 gives control over performances for life and up to five years after death as to his heirs, 24th July 1793 reproduction rights for life and ten years after for his heirs.

Who was this Rev. Tanquerey? Did he live before the French Revolution? No.

The Reverend Father Adolphe Tanquerey, S.S., D.D., (1854-1932) was born in Blainville, France and joined the Society of St. Sulpice at the age of 18.

He was not a historian, not a Medieval scholastic, possibly not even a canonist. The one work by him that always turns up is:

THE SPIRITUAL LIFE
A TREATISE ON ASCETICAL AND MYSTICAL THEOLOGY
by the Very Reverend Adolphe Tanquerey, S.S., D.D.
https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/spiritual-life-12635

According to Barnes and Noble, the passage quoted being from there, he also taught Dogmatic theology:

His best known works include the three-volume Synopsis Theologiae Dogmaticae and comprehensive one-volume treatise The Spiritual Life.

Barnes and Noble : The Spiritual Life: A Treatise on Ascetical and Mystical Theology

https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-spiritual-life-very-rev-adolphe-tanqueray-ssdd/1121811519

It is possible he was also habilitated to speak on moral theology as to the copyright legislation, and did so in a less known work, but it is also possible that in that area, "he spoke as an ultracrepidarian."*

Now here is a thing I do agree on:

Many have questioned the “proprietary” attitude of Catholic writers today who copyright their works and insist that others honor their wishes concerning the use of their material. In doing so those questioning this right seem to intimate that such behavior is not in keeping with the Church’s own attitude on the matter. Far from being the case, it was the norm prior to the false Vatican II council for Catholic writers not only to copyright their works but to be paid for their writing.

It may be mentioned, I totally honour her wish to get paid for her work, I do not intend to reprint and sell it without her permission. I do not think anyone printing and selling this essay would be pretending to reprint and sell her work, since it is my work, commenting on hers.

Today, “Traditionalist” Catholics seem to think that writers should be happy to donate their works to the “movement,” or to posterity for the sake of the faith. This is not a choice as much as it has become a reality. Few outlets exist for those writing about the true faith, and what outlets there are can seldom afford to pay its writers.

This is a thing I have intended to mend. What has been blocking me is also a liability to others.

Note, the description depends a bit on how far from the true faith you think some Novus Ordos are, who in fact are making money from Apologetics (Mark Shea comes to mind). I would say his "Making senses of Scripture" is at least in the risk zone (I haven't read it, but kind of judge by what he said on literalism on other occasions) of putting the spiritual senses above the literal one, not just in importance for the Christian life, which is true, but also in veracity information given, which is false. But "Mother of the Son" would arguably be a very good book on why we should honour the Blessed Virgin precisely as we do.

I have actually not approached TAN books yet ... I maybe should. However, when I state (as I do) that Theistic Evolution involves either a total shallowness about what Adam as first man means, or a fairly depraved view on how he "grew up" once you start to accurately think about it, I have fears, this would not be the top priority of people who accept as Popes the Theistic Evolutionists Wojtyla, Ratzinger, and now Bergoglio.

I have approached Pope Michael, and I think it is somewhat reckless of him to allow Amazon to make not just the printing, but also the marketing of his books. Like the US bishops can rely on TAN, like the pre-apostasy papacy (and the antipopes after them) can rely on Libreria Editrice Vaticana, like the French speaking bishops of France and Belgium can rely on arrangements to publish books at once in Paris and in Leuven (spelled Louvain in French), so His Holiness should have a bookseller who actually serves his interests for the faith, not just a contracter, Amazon, largely run by (and manipulating algorithms against him) people who are total strangers to the faith. I also found it somewhat disingenious to make a new catechism, as he did a few years ago, while loudly claiming he stands by the Catechism of Trent and the four versions of the Baltimore Catechism (by Fr. Januarius De Concilio), and while neglecting apologetics, not to his papacy as such, at least his site is still vocal about that, but to things he has stood up for, like Geocentrism and Young Earth Creationism. The latter being where I come in. I stood for both while I was still a Palmarian (before October 2002). My going from Palmarian to moderate Feeneyite, from Feeneyite to Ratzingerite "at last a pope materialiter and formaliter" from that to Romanian Orthodox (Neohimerite jurisdiction), from that to FSSPX, from that to briefly wavering between Sede and Ratzingerite and from there to accepting Pope Michael the last seven years, all this has not affected my idea, that the Church Fathers and Scholastics were right, and so is a plain reading of the Bible, and modernism is wrong.

Speaking of Young Earth Creationism, and Geocentrism, we may see some kind of rationale in Introibo blogger's relectance against him in what he used to be:

I'm a former New York City science teacher and current lawyer, so why am I writing a blog on theology?

New York City - so blue state. What can we know of science teachers in blue states? They usually promote Evolution (but he could have refused and lost his job over that**) and they nearly always to absolutely always promote Heliocentrism.

My own arrangement about copyright is actually a limited version of Creative Commons with voluntary Royalties as an option for remunerating me. There are six or so accepted versions of Creative Commons (with or without requirement of faithful reproduction, for attribution, for non-profit use only***) and my own version would be a seventh - no requirement of non-profit only, but instead an option for voluntary copyright royalties.

I do not think T. S. Benns can complain of anything I stated about the content of her text to be incorrect, since I used copy and paste, and I also do not think she could reasonably pretend I am (if this be printed and sold as books) earning money from her work.

Now, her rationale for a requirement as given being:

It is only logical to ask anyone intending to use a work to which considerable time and research has been devoted to request permission to use it. That way the author can check the posting or printed material to make sure the copy agrees with the original. Anyone whose intentions are honorable concerning such intended use of another’s material should not object to asking permission and allowing the author to check the resulting use. It is the responsibility of every Catholic writer to see that if their work is quoted, it is quoted properly.

Well, the quotes are by copy and paste, and the opportunity to check them, and contradict my use, if she judges it fraudulent, or careless, or otherwise incorrect, is given in another way, namely a notification. Introibo will have one too, even if he will arguably not bother to publish it in the comment section.

As I have already alluded to my copyright conditions being a species of Creative Commons, namely attribution and text integrality (but not original format°) required from anyone pretending to give my text, monetary use both allowed and encouraged, and this especially in relation to voluntary royalty payments. Obviously, giving my text and commenting on it are two different operations. But some people who think I need to be objected to (since they disagree with me) and who may have read me (during three months, the daily readership of my 40 blogs, big and small, has been 1700 per day, somewhat under 1000 of which from France) have been unnecessarily shy of citing me with a reference to where my text is (for the moment being, that's the internet). Perhaps due to a mistaken idea that even citations would require my previous permission.

To be fair to T. S. Benns, before the internet, a prior request was actually needed : the paper publication once printed could not be modified after criticism of a cited author, and so the request meant "I intend to publish a book on paper, and I would like to have your permission to quote you, so you can check I am not misquoting you" - any quotations made prior to such a permission would have been only in the citing author's manuscript, and hence unpublished, private use, and he would have been able to rewrite the manuscript after permission of the cited author depended on this. In this era of internet, I am by definition not mis-citing (unless it be by strategic truncations°°) any passage, since I use copy and paste, and by definition, if T. S. Benns feels mis-cited, I can change the post afterwards to suit her requirement of exact citation - if only by adding a PS or in the case of very bad errors a square of warning above the text.

* If that is how Introibo blogger would have it stated. ** The speculation is meant to be a compliment, to desist from thinking the worst of him. If he insists with pride that he actually taught some kind of Theistic Evolution, we'll have to believe him. *** If each version that has a ban on modification automatically involves a requirement of attribution, this makes it six, three versions around these requirements, times two around non-profit only or not. ° The original format is the internet, and it is usually for free. Who Coined the Term, Anyway?

"Ultracrepidarianism" · Who Coined the Term, Anyway? · Copyright Laws and Casuistry

https://www.my-mooc.com/fr/podcast/qu-est-ce-que-l-ultracrepidarianisme/

The term ultracrepidarian was first used in 1819 by the essayist William Hazlitt in an open letter to the literary critic William Gifford. Its etymology is to the Latin saying "ne sutor ultra crepidam," literally, "let the cobbler go no higher than the sandal."

Here, I have detected the source:

In comparing yourself with others, you make a considerable mistake. You suppose the common advantages of a liberal education to be something peculiar to yourself, and calculate your progress beyond the rest of the world from the obscure point at which you first set out. Yet your overweening self-complacency is never easy but in the expression of your contempt for others; like a conceited mechanic in a village ale-house, you would set down every one who differs from you as an ignorant blockhead; and very fairly infer that any one who is beneath yourself must be nothing. You have been well called an Ultra-Crepidarian critic. From the difficulty you yourself have in constructing a sentence of common grammar, and your frequent failures, you instinctively presume that no author who comes under the lash of your pen can understand his mother-tongue: and again, you suspect every one who is not your “very good friend” of knowing nothing of the Greek or Latin, because you are surprised to think how you came by your own knowledge of them.

Page 2 of Mr. Hazlitt's letter to Mr. Gifford.
No. 585. SUNDAY, MARCH 14, 1819.

The point is not giving an opinion on matters unrelated to one's formal training. The fact is, to much of history, the élite were not eager to have such a thing.

Like in the anecdote about Apelles and the cobbler, it has nothing to do about showing Dunning Kruger in action, as the word is now used, but all of having a small-minded eagerness to cavil and a proportionally small base from which to cavil from.

While Hazlitt could be wrong, even terribly wrong, about Gifford (it was after all clearly obviously said in a quarrell), he is at least not subscribing to "chacun son métier et les vaches seront bien gardées"* like a French farmer who, for all his noble qualities, like a Gipsy, is not the best placed to decide on what is done in letters. Actually, I hail (spiritually, and in part) from a Scanian somewhat negligent cowboy, who learned Greek while the cows were grazing, Frans G. Bengtsson.

So, no, I was wrong to suspect that Hazlitt's personal apostasy from the religion of an already apostate father (Unitarian, not freethinker that one) had given him an inclination to found this kind of superstition - it's still a kind of omen that it came from him.

Apelles, now ... in Pliny we can read, with proper wikipedian abreviation in English:

Another refers to his practice of exhibiting his works in the front of his shop, then hiding nearby to hear the comments of passers-by. When a cobbler commented on his mistakes in painting a shoe, Apelles made the corrections that very night; the next morning the cobbler noticed the changes, and proud of his effect on the artist's work began to criticize how Apelles portrayed the leg—whereupon Apelles emerged from his hiding-place to state: Ne sutor ultra crepidam—"Let the shoemaker venture no further than the shoe."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apelles#Legacy

It has very little to do with a debate about ideas, and all about a quarrel - like between Hazlitt and Gifford - between two people with some artsy accomplishment, and a kind of social envy on the part of the lower accomplishment.

And while, to the modern world, at its worst and most modern, the ultracrepidarian par excellence is the essayist or blogger, the expressions involved come from two in fact largely untrained essayists, Hazlitt and Pliny. Indeed, if you want to learn to draw, there are probably more lessons to be had from a mangaka than from Pliny and his essays on Apelles. And why did Hazlitt chose the epithet about Gifford? Probably this is more important than anything Gifford actually wrote:

Poet, scholar, and editor who began as a shoemaker's apprentice; after Oxford he published The Baviad (1794), The Maeviad (1795), and The Satires of Juvenal translated (1802) before becoming the founding editor of the Quarterly Review (1809-24).

(1756-1826)
https://www.lordbyron.org/persRec.php?&selectPerson=WiGiffo1826

Ah, a shoemaker's apprentice! Like, once upon a time, before distilling, my grandpa ... after Oxford, I highly doubt that Gifford was really a bad critic, with no ability. I find it much more likely, that Hazlitt who came to school from the first, had a social disdain for Gifford. It could even be that in expressing it, he invented non-extant feelings about Gifford's English being incorrect./HGL

This is the age of ultracrepidarianism, i.e., the giving of advice and opinions outside the scope of one's knowledge and/or training—and unfortunately many people accept such worthless advice. ... However, there are times when emergency circumstances necessitate a non-expert to weigh in. I'm a former New York City science teacher and current lawyer, so why am I writing a blog on theology? In the absence of the Great Apostasy, I wouldn't be; and shouldn't be.

I do not intend right now to comment on Theresa S. Benns, who was among those voting Pope Michael into office and left him before I joined him.

I am commenting on the concept named in the title.

Now, Gilbert Keith Chesterton was received in the Catholic Church in 1922. He wrote The Everlasting Man in 1925, as a Catholic, not under the looser discipline of his former Anglicanism, and he was never Theologian, Historian, Palaeontologist, so the project epithomises Ultracrepidarianism. Was he disciplined for it? Not so. Pope Pius XI gave him the distinction Knight of St. Gregory the Great. Near the end of his life, so, after the book./HGL

  • dans cette association avec d'autres sdf;
  • avec un colloc plus vieux;
  • sous tutelle financière de quelqu'un;

  • idéalement, sur le revenu que mes blogs pourraient générer en forme de livres sur papier, donc commerciables;

Agreeing Some, Disagreeing Much, Bill Schnoebelen on Harry Potter

It is a "coincidence," this video I saw and the comments I made under it came to my notice exactly as Dimond Brothers upload “Magicians” Prove A Spiritual World Exists – Last Version - a thing I have disagreed on, in the past, even while agreeing on the general principle sorcery exists, I exonerate Chinese face shifting art (some previou version of video) and "David Copperfield" walking on water from being that.

It could theoretically be providence, like someone who was genuinely concerned and fooled by others seeing me as a dabbler in magic praying for me to get confronted with that reproach from God's providence, without himself being there to accuse me (I have in fact been accused face to face too, if rarely).

It could also be, there was a collusion between diverse actors, involving on one end Dimond Brothers and on the other end Daniel Alexander who attacked the Hail Mary under a comment I had previously placed here, under the video cited below - and it is obvious, while I cannot pinpoint Bill Schnoebelen as being in the know about me, and I cannot exclude him either, I cannot do that investigation, he is a man respected for converting real Satanists to some kind of Christianity, he is certainly respected by Daniel Alexander, who shares his anti-Catholicism, and he is very probably respected, in a way similar to how Creation Ministries International and Answers in Genesis are so, by Dimond Brothers. And it is possible, he could have got in touch with CMI and AiG as well. If anyone (involving or not any of those I named as possible suspects) participates in this kind of bullying, it's called "buying and selling souls" and I tell you to get out of her!

Hidden Evil in Harry Potter - Bill Schnoebelen

Brigit B
I seriously doubt JK Rowling, wrote these books. The story she tells about writing the books makes no sense.

Hans-Georg Lundahl
What exact detail in her story rings false to you, and how many stories have you written or tried to write to compare with?

Own comments, with or without ensuing dialogue:

Two questions:
1) Would you say the same things about Narnia or about LotR?
2) Do you think Rowling is a believing occultist planning this, or do you take her word for it, she doesn't believe it and that is why she thinks it is harmless, even if she is wrong?

One answer on my part: Ron Weasley in upper case in ASCII adds up to 777 - a number of perfection - and so much, of what I have heard about the books/films is about perfection being taken away from him, his being debased by sexual feelings misplaced due to coed teen school setting and some more bad stuff.

I think the "love triangle" in Harry, Hermione and Ron is somehow bad enough, even if there were no occultism or even if all occult was approached purely by ridicule (as in "magic school Abracadabra" which I think she used parts of, it's a comic book), and in ways which would not be instructive to the curious, that alone would be corrupting reading for the young.

The writer and book critic who warned me of Harry Potter back in the nineties, was a Catholic priest and a fan of both CSL and JRRT - he says Rowling is very different - learning "discretion" and keeping disobediences secret even by lying and so on was so much part of HP ethos.

I never read one, never borrowed one on the library.

Dan Brown, I read two, and I dislike his world view. Or the one voiced by Robert Langdon and masons. But it is arguably one he is himself promoting, especially as he is known to be an apostate. HP, not one. I read scraps on the internet or summaries, not one book.

As to HP, I think I was even allergic in advance after four years on a boarding school.

Before going to boarding school, I could read two novels from Austria about that kind of thing, after the four years, I have trouble rereading them.

19:56 HP being rebellious, liar and cheating is obviously one of the things the Catholic priest (it could have been Monsignor Williamson) brought up.

23:22 In this context, it is not just Harry Potter.

I saw one Pirates of the Caribbean and had enough. The solution to the curse was, a man holding a coin from cursed treasure was shot through the hand and his blood dripped over the gold, obviously first touching the coin he held.

And the beings that had cursed and then lifted the curse were - Aztek gods.

Greek gods make a certain point in the Psalms of David come home if you study them close enough ... when I was a child, I liked Poseidon or Apollo as imaginary figures. Then comes a day when I study their actions in Greek tragedy at University ... I came to conclude, Poseidon posing as father to Theseus and Apollo manipulating Laius, Oedipus, Iocasta into making that family a total misery of kinslaying and incest, yes, they were real and they were real demons, and that is how powerful demons were before Calvary and before the Catholic Church converted the nations.

Harmonic
The Greek gods were fictional characters based on true stories of Nephilim hybrids, part fallen angel, part human. The fallen angels who fathered them were punished (in part) by watching their children kill each other off (where the Clash of the Titans came from).

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@Harmonic Laius, Oedipus and Iocasta are not nephelim, they are just people.

Apollo of Delphi who plays a major role in their ill fate is arguably also not a nephelim, but simply Apollyon or at least a Pythonic spirit.

He never acts on stage, he is always represented by a seer or by the oracle of Delphi.

So, it could very well be the real story of a demon fooling gullible pagans. I think it is.

25:40 Now, one could argue there is a difference between fantasising of kissing a cheek and fantasising of a fullblown visual coitus.

Similarily, one could argue there is a difference between fantasising unrealistic and non serious magic and fantasising of sth very close to the "real thing".

Obviously, one should distinguish if the thing envisaged is really magic (if Gandalf is supposed to be a spiritual being having taken body, he has powers of spiritual beings without compact with bad ones, and the one thing which looks like a spell is in fact looking for a password to a door opening automatically to that kind of thing).

And also if the magic envisaged is portrayed as attractive (Frodo's being drawn to the ring is not an attractive thing, it's porttrayed as a danger to the soul).

I think these criteria would come down fairly hard on HP.

26:28 "he loves Jesus - he did, I mean he's dead now"

If he's in either Heaven or Purgatory, he still loves Jesus.

Only if he's in Hell has he ceased doing so ...

As he was not a Catholic, I put him in a category comparable to Terence (who died a Montanist, also a heresy), that is, not everything he said or wrote is good.

27:52 Correction : runes are not inherently pagan.

In early centuries of Christianity in Sweden, clerks wrote Latin in the Latin alphabet, but peasants or large farmers wrote rune Swedish in runes - with often Christian content, like recently they found the oldest Hail Mary, or when such and such a stone asks for prayers for a deceased one, or when it says such and such one died as a pilgrim or crusader.

Daniel Alexander
Hail Mary? Yeah, that is going against Christ. Tell me, where in the Word did He tell us to "haily mary"?

Hans-Georg Lundahl
@Daniel Alexander Through Luke recording these as the words of the angel (chapter 1) and of St. Elisabeth (later on in chapter 1).

30:34 Nicholas Flamel being an alchemist in the Medieval sense doesn't make him an occultist in the modern sense.

He may well have been Christian, certainly professed it.

His birthday being 666 years before 1996 is a simple fact of history and mathematics, which probably drew Rowling to the occult as a subject matter - treating him as less Christian than he was, for instance.

He is in Europe sufficiently well known to be on wiki both French and English (but wiki is after that book was written) and arguably quite a few encyclopedias too.

30:43 Some overdo the extent of channeling, by ignoring the extent of humanly available learning.

Rowling needed no channeling to know about Nicolas Flamel, for instance.

(Some may have pretended either my language skills or my historic knowledge or my capacity to write music could be channeled, they are not, they are all within learning that was humanly available to me).

And some might also overdo channeling as opposed to simple creativity.

30:54 How she knows the Scriptural part?

She's part of formerly Church of England, later Church of Scotland.

These British "communions" have a very modernist attitude as to actually believing Scripture, but they do know them.

Another "mystery" that can be solved without either conspiracies (more secret than British Liberal Theologian Protestantism, that is) or channeling.

Scandinavian Liberal Lutheranism is much the same, there is a reason why I had to leave it, becoming Catholic.

35:04 If everyone was reading HP anyway back then ("fortunately" not the case) Jesus would perhaps have made parables about situations in the books - but without actually endorsing them as such.

I think, for instance, Woden had practised witchcraft and drawn men like Tewe with him into posing as idols - and even so, Jesus seems to reference how they were maimed (Woden had pulled his right eye out, Tewe had sacrificed his right arm as hostage in the mouth of a wolf monster, according to the myths, now, I don't think Tewe had actually made such a deal with a person actually in the body of a wolf, but he would have lacked his right arm).

Btw, if you are uncertain of whom I am talking about, I hesitate between them being Druids and them actually being the Yeshu of the earlier parts of the carreer of the Talmudic Yeshu ("who" is if so a conflation between that man and Our Lord being compared to him, at least in Toledoth Yeshu literature - as to the Talmudic passages, they could be referring to two different men, with the execution passages taking notes from Crucifixion and martyrdoms of Apostles, but without the Romans).

Bonus : Thunor may have repented, gone back to Holy Land, settled as a fisherman. Boanerges in the vocative does not mean "you are sons of thunder" it means "you make moans like mooing oxen" and what would that have to do with "because sons of thunder" unless they were moaning about being teased on family history of the less reputable type?

42:25 [19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury, [20] Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects, [21] Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.

Note St. Paul is talking of sexual immorality first.

And yet, so far, this Christian rant on HP has not mentioned how Ron, Hermione and Harry relate.

If Rowling takes it easy, perhaps that is because modern Protestant Christians do take it easy ... "they'll marry later and make it up with God then" - but what if they don't?

Cassie may have made up all her faults with God, when, famously, she said yes. I'm not sure all in her "Church" are going to Heaven - and the young people shot were more numerous than just a few Christian perhaps martyrs, that day when Klebold shot others and himself. How many of them are in Hell?

And how many ... well, there are arguably literature for young giving even worse advice in unhappy love than Rowling does. A certain Clinton was furious back in 1994 or 1995 because a 12 year old girl could legally quit school to marry an old man. What are you doing to reverse those policies?

43:35 As you mentioned hatred - how many young in schools are in situations when hatred is, barring very extreme heights of grace, impossible to avoid?

How many are, for instance, bullied? And not just a short while, but year after year?

Perhaps some parents who don't want their offspring to read HP should take a good look into the books to find out what they are already exposed to without HP. I am already aware of that, I don't really need HP to tell me that.

Modern education systems are damning young children by millions. Young adults (sorry) by millions.

46:58 I think this is the second time but it could be third or more this video Bill Schnoebelen uses the word "addicted".

It's a word based in a psychiatric world view, which is kind of ... divination.

The girl who had read the whole series in 12 months may need something even gorier and more witchcrafty next twelve months, but she may also have been studying the love triangle of Ron, Hermione and Harry, or how they defend themselves against the bullying of Malfoy, and she may also have been studying narrative structure ... it is obvious she loves the books, but we need not assume it is the witchcraft as such she is in love with.

If she then says she wants to be a witch and it's obvious she's serious, that is another matter, but just the twelve readings, not necessarily, no.

The power of magicians, once you imagine having or being able to easily gain it, may be very addictive. So is the power of psychiatrists, including addictologists. To my mind, that is divination way beyond the dabbling level.

47:40 When I was in preparatory year of IB, unless it was already ninth grade, I was around a cabbalist who definitely was into kabbalah and using hypnosis for séances, perhaps including Ouija boards.

I don't say I participated, but he and his pals made fun of me for not participating.

I was an outcast for other things (like one of the fattest and worst cases of pimples) and became an outcast for that refusal too. HP at least shows clearly, boarding schools can be schools of wizardry. Again, not saying young should read it, saying you should read it again from the angle "what if this is a way too realistic lampoon on what the young are going through anyway?"

50:00 I notice, the video is from 2019, but the show was from back when HP was just four books, not all seven.

That makes it between 8 July 2000 and 21 June 2003.

No, I don't have this from channeling, I used wikipedia. And, as obviously mentioned, also not into Potter geekdom (beyond details that now or then catch my eye, like a post "16 things that are so wrong in Harry Potter" which I didn't find again, but was by a young lady).

50:11 When it comes to the modern school system, I think there is other light needing to come on too.

51:06 It seems HP like Daniel portrays "Voldemort" (alias Assyrian) as one armed (and one eyed).*

As you mentioned.

So, she provides some literacy, roundabout way.

* I am in retrospect not sure where I got this from, but to my defense for two years back, I said "it seems" ...

Good Point, Guys!

Russian soldiers who refuse to fight in Ukraine cannot be punished according to Russian law, since formally there is no war between Russia and Ukraine (from the Russian side, of course).

Sorry Makulec, Twitter is a public media, not your private chatroom

Here* is the story:

Then a stranger went through her old tweets and found confirmation that she had happily gotten vaccinated while pregnant. This person created an image showing her tweet about vaccination next to her tweet about losing her baby. “Safe … and effective” the person wrote, implying a connection. The image spread across the internet. This is despite the fact that her baby’s death had nothing to do with vaccinations.

If you have a twitter account that strangers can follow, obviously you have a twitter account where strangers can go through your old tweets.

You consider it a fact that your baby's death had nothing to do with vaccinations, that stranger didn't.

“I did not expect the moment of my deepest grief and pain to be weaponized against pregnant women and vaccines that could protect them from the worst consequences of Covid-19,” Makulec wrote in a guest essay this week about the experience.

The deal about sharing a thing in public is, other people can weaponise it. I don't agree it is "against pregnant women" since the guy certainly did not think vaccines "could protect them from the worst consequences of Covid-19."

Vaccination is somewhat of a lottery (most diseases, wouldn't say that about rabies vaccine for someone bitten**), and going public is something of a lottery. You chose both lotteries. The latter one allowed someone else to speculate you had lost on the former one.

Makulec does not say this solely as a victim of misinformation and Covid-related online bullying, but as an active opponent of it. She is a public health professional who works in data visualization. She spends her time thinking about how to present Covid-19 information in a clear way.

You have one agenda, the guy who quoted your public statements had another one. And his using your statements for that other agenda does NOT constitute bullying, whether he does it online or in print or in any other way.

“In a time filled with unknowns, people seek explanations for why terrible things happen and also to assure themselves that one person’s tragedy couldn’t happen to them,” writes Makulec. “But to do so with cruel disregard for the truth, as was done to my family, is an unacceptable new norm that’s reinforced when people demand and share information without thinking about it critically.”

The guy precisely did think critically about two of your stories. Thinking critically and thinking as you would like people to think, coincides in you and your likeminded friends, not in everyone.

Then we talk about the continuing media and liberal meltdown over the probable overturning of Roe v. Wade. In their desperation to gin up public opposition to overturning the decision, leftists are now linking access to abortion to the success of black women. That leads us into a larger discussion of why the black community keeps voting for Democrats in large numbers, especially considering that many of them hold personal conservative values.

Some People Think Vikings Were Nazis

Such people fall into two categories.

  • Nazis who think I should be a Nazi because I am of Viking nationality (I'm not of Viking profession, neither trader, nor seafarer, nor warrior, nor robber, and that is what Viking refers to)
  • Nazi hunters who think I would be a Nazi, for the same reason.

I can only say, I have much more in common with Robert Lundin on this video than with the also featured Vejdeland.

As to Fascisms, I can sympathise to a degree with Per Engdahl (who died in 1992, when I was 23), but not with the support he (but not Il Duce*) gave for eugenics. But Per Engdahl and Vejdeland are two different things and while not an adherent, I have much more sympathy with the New Swedes' message of Corporatism:

Father, thy love hath taught us that we are members of one family, grant thou that all employers and employees, conscious of their mutual duties, may avoid bitterness and mistrust in the disputes of the work life and collaborate for the best of our people and our country.

This also means, if I don't feel I'd make this kind of standard of good relations with an employer, I do well not to be an employee ...

Meanwhile, being interested in the Viking age or older past in pre-Christian paganism is a simple not just patriotic but also history geeky reflex, and if some guys love to read of Solon and Caesar, I love to read of Theoderic (while knowing his programme failed and he executed a Catholic** by unmerited mistrust, because he was a secularist), as well as of the less likeable but equally or more impressive Sigfried and Gunther (well, they were not really living up in Sweden, they lived in Worms at the Rhine and had some background in Denmark, but even so ...)

April 14, 2022 at 11:47 AM
"Le commentaire de M. Lundhal est absurde et témoigne de son ignorance de la Bible. ..."

Et encore:
April 15, 2022 at 3:00 AM
"Pour compléter ce que j'ai écrit plus haut, je ferais remarquer à M. Lundhal que le récit du Déluge tel qu'il est rapporté par le livre de la Genèse est totalement impossible. ..."

Il faut remarquer que, si j'avais signé l'article*** HGL, le champs "administratif" en bas donnait :

Posted by Hans Georg Lundahl at 5:21 AM
Labels: antiquity-related, fr

April 17, 2022 at 2:48 PM

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustav_Badin

Φιλολoγικά/Philologica : "This takes us back to enslavement" a Black woman said ...
https://filolohika.blogspot.com/2021/11/this-takes-us-back-to-enslavement-black.html

Φιλολoγικά/Philologica : Rivarol 3480 ... et mon bac
