If you add 442 to 224, it arguably says more of Ground Control to Major Tom than about his own eternal fate. That said, some issues look a bit bleak.

But arguably God wouldn't have wasted a coincidence like that just because Ground Control to Major Tom is bad music. There would need to be sth worse either in the text or in the overall phenomenon the text refers to. Notes being uncomfortable is an added warning signal, not the basic issue.

And Ground Control to Major Tom is about rocketry, and I think it has a bad side.

Basically, in Roddenberry's vision, once space was colonised, Christianity, Islam and arguably Orthodox Rabbinic Judaism would be things of the past. "Archaic modes of thought" as some say. Watching Star Trek (the original franchise) was living this vision of the future in advance. Now add 580 to 36.

How do we know this is his view? Because he insisted that Starship Enterprise should have no chaplain.

Those who have already read my story Year 10 950 ARC (After Rocket Crash) will know I don't believe in colonising space any more than in radiation plus spider bite in a lab giving you spider powers. I have more credulity about Dracula (and not that much either) than about Spidey, and more credulity about Orcs than about Warp Drive.

I also think - as some readers may also know - that the tower Nimrod was trying to build was a rocket - it would have had three steps and above them a top meant to reach deep space.

In other words, Nimrod was trying to reach heaven by rocketry. And that's not like getting there by a humble Christian life or a glorious martyr's death, like that of St. Thomas More.

The problem isn't he thought heaven is a place - it is, the risen body of Christ is there, our risen bodies will be there if we are saved, but that he thought a body still mortal, not yet resurrected, could live there.

Plus it was absolutely not needed as a refuge against a second Flood, God already promised there wasn't coming one.

The scene in Ground Control to Major Tom* seems to have as a backstory the colonisation of space as in the belief Earth "won't be enough for mankind" - but it will.
