On the Situation of Josh Duggar · I think I said something about how easy it was to hack a computer owned by Josh Duggar

I had a few comments under a video by Jessica Kent, it is here:

I realise, the video is c. 10 days on the web, things can have happened since then, Duggar could have been released after a secon trial or he could have confessed ... these are my reactions on a video from ten days ago, I haven't looked on any updates.

7:09 A hacker would arguably have been able to do two things:

• guess his pass word (hoping he had only one)
• try it out in a safe way without doing any stuff (on more than one to see he had precisely only one)
• do the hacking.

He was definitely extremely stupid in the choice of password. Name and year of birth are OK as user names, but to log in to your accounts, you need something less easy to guess.

With such a badly chosen password, the line "a hacker did it" is clearly not beyond reasonable doubt a falsehood.

Glad I don't own a computer. I just saw a video (part of it) where Matt Fradd commented on Billie Eilish who was exposed to porn at 11 (computer or cell phone in the family). That reason too, but this reason as well.

7:16 In question of "no evidence of hacker on the computer" ... why would a hacker leave evidence if he already knows the password?

I don't know these details on how trying to connect to a computer from outside its physical vicinity would or would not leave traces.

But I do know the computer I'm at is accessed by the owner of the cyber, and he doesn't need to physically sit here to supervise what I'm doing. So, some cases where computers are accessed can happen with no physical contact with the computer itself. And I am not sure this would leave traces identifiable as of a hacker.

11:25 I used to have a Swedish type of Ashley Madison account, do not log in there, but I found it difficult to close them.

I know one thing : he is not likely to have found ways to commit child abuse on that account. Social media would have been easier, if someone got away with signing up at an age where actually they shouldn't have been able to - and even there I'm speaking of down to 12, perhaps.

15:04 I am not sure inmates always know the charges correctly.

I had shot on a policeman when he was trying to get me a mental checkout I saw going wrong. I had fellow inmates start asking questions, like if they wondered if I was something like a chomo (looked it up today). I didn't put up a pretence I needed to see the juridic papers so I could show these to them either.

Like on my blog Assorted Retorts, the numbers refer to time signatures in the video. On that one I also do responses on quora, where time signatures are less interesting and numbers of threads more so. Here it is a video comment.

Now, I think if he appeals, the ease to hack his computer without traces should be tested. And I'm reminded of the fact Putin descends from a cook when Jessica Kent says she frequented the same restaurant as the Duggars - he can have better rénommé among them than he deserves, and some guy with KGB like affiliations could have approached the restaurant and pretended the hacking was for detective work - not for framing.
