Bridge Constructed When? Could it be an Omen?

I was asking myself, after reading a story from mail.com whether the bridge collapsing was contemporary with New Rites of Ordination and Consecration, of priests and of bishops.

NEW YORK (AP) — The bridge that collapsed in the Italian port city of Genoa was considered a feat of engineering innovation when it was built five decades ago, but it came to require constant maintenance over the years. Its design is now being investigated as a possible contributor to its stunning collapse.

The Morandi Bridge was severed in its midsection during a heavy downpour Tuesday. Government officials initially said 39 people were killed but revised the death toll to 38 on Thursday. Italian prosecutors focused their investigation into possible design flaws or inadequate maintenance of the bridge that opened in 1967.

So, I looked up the date for that one:

"NEW RITES FOR SACRED ORDINATION"
"Pope Paul VI"
The following Apostolic Constitution, approving of the new Rites for the Ordination of Deacons, Priests and Bishops, was issued by the Holy Father Pope Paul VI on June 18th, 1968.

And obviously, the New Liturgy for the Mass was even later. So late, when I was one month old, my mother was in Holy Mass (ancient, traditional and real rite) in Munich, because the Mass liturgy had not changed as yet.

So, perhaps my track was the wrong one ...

1963 - C. S. Lewis died and Vatican II was going on ... and perhaps worst, election of Antipope Montini.

"Papacy" began 21 June 1963
"Papacy" ended 6 August 1978

Did you know that Popes of Rome also traditionally (since Constantine's time) are called "Pontifex" and that Pontifex means "bridge builder"?

I think Antipope Bergoglio's Twitter account is also called #Pontifex.

Someone check out what Bergoglio wrote the day before the bridge collapsed?

I'm sorry, Pratchett, but it seems the real life counterpart of Good Omens might be more like bad omens ...
