We cannot, obviously, change known outcomes so that the dead are not killed or the wounded are unharmed. But we can still pray for those men, in that hour, that they receive the grace, help, courage, strength and every other divine gift they need.


We cannot change known outcomes.

We can co-determine outcomes we are not yet aware of, in so far as God takes the prayer into account.

And, this is also true for praying for those on the losing side, meaning Germans. I especially like those getting out of the way from Bayeux in time:
