The True Myth — What Did Tolkien Mean?

If we look at it from 6:03 the point of view of Tolkien who you know 6:06 in debating with Lewis about religion 6:10 called Christianity a true myth in in a 6:13 in trying to help Lewis understand it 6:16 you know Lewis was kind of stuck on this 6:17 idea that Christianity is just a myth 6:20 and Tolkien was like well it's a true 6:22 myth in other words yes it's technically 6:25 a myth in that sense it just happens to 6:29 be the true one you know this was kind 6:31 of Tolkien's take on the whole thing And 6:33 by that Tolkien did not mean it's a story 6:38 that is basically fictional but which 6:40 tells us some truth about the world He 6:43 meant it is a story which provides the 6:47 kind of explanation about the world and 6:49 our past which myths try to do in 6:53 general And this one happens to be the 6:55 factually accurate one
