PS, it so happens I bring up some modernist "Catholic" clergy are very clearly Harlot of Babylon, Apoc. 18. Then someone jumps onto it and asks, whether from a Modernist Catholic pov or from that of a Protestant one, if I believe the Catholic Church is that harlot, no, She isn't.

Those Protestants believe in a very early apostasy which for long left no visible Church and only a very discrete and socially / historically unfindable remnant. That is theologically non-sense, it's blatantly against Matthew 28:16—20 as well as Matthew 5:14,15. The verse in St. John's revelation, 18:4, mirrors verses from Isaias and Jeremias, warning Jews to get out of Babylon city, before it was taken by Cyrus. And the Neo-Babylonian Empire had lasted only 90 years, and faithful people of the old covenant had been in it only 70. Not 700 or 1700 years. Hope this clears up the distinction, I'm a Trad, not a Prot.
