1 Tim 4:3

Forbidding to marry, to abstain from meats, is mentioned in that verse.

Some who would like to apply this to Catholics point out, the context does not say all in the community are forbidden to marry, it's on their view sufficient that nuns, monks, originally unmarried, or widowed, priests, cannot marry.

Well, if so, forbidding all marriages is not required, just forbidding some is sufficient.

If people band up to decide between them I'm not mature enough to marry, and if they decide I'm an alcoholic who needs to sober up, and if they decide I need to be pushed to eat more, so drinking even moderately becomes less agreeable for the stomach, they are:

  • forbidding me to marry
  • and
forbidding me to abstain from meat.

If you believe that even moderate drink is evil, you believe doctrines of demons. If you think you can ban a 54 year old man from seeking marriage (including with an as yet underage girl, if that is the case, obviously waiting to when marriage becomes possible) on the ground he is narcissistic, you believe doctrines of demons./HGL
