https://nhi.no/sykdommer/psykisk-helse/depresjon/depresjon-forekomst
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNNwa52Rc1g

Can Christians Follow Their Heart?
Lots of Evangelicals will say, "no" and will cite:
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremias 17:9, KJV
That was King James. Here is Douay Rheims:
The heart is perverse above all things, and unsearchable, who can know it
[Jeremias (Jeremiah) 17:9]
No, it's not a modern translation trying to pander to New Age or Progressive Christianity, the Old and New Testaments of the Vulgate (ready since St. Jerome) were translated to English in the Spanish Netherlands, in Douay, and in France, in Rheims.* Why not in England? Because England, at the time, persecuted Catholics. Not exactly your hippies getting old or starting to read the Bible at 60 scenario.**
Doesn't say "deceitful" but "perverse" and doesn't say "wicked" but "unsearchable" ... there is a difference between a tempter tricking you, and a clumsy person tripping himself up, there is also a difference between the darkness of evil and the darkness of mystery.
Already, these are two very different views on the human heart, both in old translations, in English translations that are so old, they are not shown in their original spelling in most printed or online copies. The Douay Rheims was actually complete a few years before the King James, I think the latter of the two instalments was 1609 and King James was 1611.
But even a perverse thing is not totally trustworthy, is it? And if it's unsearchable, maybe you can't find the problem and fix it very easily?*** So, why follow it?
Well, one thing is, you may be better off following it after praying Psalm 50.
Create a clean heart in me, O God: and renew a right spirit within my bowels
[Psalms 50:12]
But David was pretty well of following it most of the time, or even all of the time up to that thing with Bathseeba that he was here repenting of.
If you don't follow your heart, what do you follow? God? Excellent idea, but how do you know Him? The Bible? Yes, but how do you know what part of it is applicable unless your heart tells you so? Your priest? Yes, but how do you interpret his admonition from one week ago or one month ago or one year ago or more, unless your heart tells you what principle is at stake in the present moment?
Now, some would have you follow your family or Christian friends or employer or school teacher. To some degrees this can be right, but there are times when their hearts are not better off than yours. They should not be an excuse to never listen to your heart. You should not ask yourself "what would NN say?" instead of "what do I want to do?" or "what do I feel I ought to do?" (once, of course it is all within Christian doctrine, of course).
You see, if you are in a state of grace, your heart belongs to God, not the Devil. And the heart sometimes speaks out even against your flesh, but also even more often, unless you silence it, against the world.
Remember, the three enemies of your soul are not your heart, your curiosity and your free will, but the Devil, the World and the Own Flesh.
And before a certain heart in the news° told a man "I'm a woman" I bet lots in his surroundings (i e the World) told him so too, one way or another. So, no, I won't give transsexuals the credit even of following their heart.

St. Dionysius the Areopagite

Lutetiae Parisiorum natalis sanctorum Martyrum Dionysii Areopagitae Episcopi, Rustici Presbyteri, et Eleutherii Diaconi. Ex his Dionysius, ab Apostolo Paulo baptizatus, primus Atheniensium Episcopus ordinatus est; deinde Romam venit, atque inde a beato Clemente, Romano Pontifice, in Gallias praedicandi gratia directus est, et ad praefatam urbem devenit; ibique, cum per aliquot annos commissum sibi opus fideliter prosecutus esset, tandem, a Praefecto Fescennino, post gravissima tormentorum genera, una cum Sociis, gladio animadversus, martyrium complevit.
PS, while the first feast of today is actually John Leonardi, I'm following my heart on a blog, which is my own and not the Church's in honouring the first bishop of the diocese I'm in. I've defended the thesis that Denis of Paris and Denis the Areopagite are one elsewhere: ACER Paris et Diocèse (plus tard Archidiocèse) de Paris./HGL
* Now Douai and Reims are both in France, Lewis XIV conquered some since back then. And spelling has been reformed, but not in the name of the Bible version. ** Obviously, hippies do get old, and it's better to start reading the Bible at 60 than never. *** It seems some professionals have tried to make a living of saying "we search the unsearchable and make it no longer perverse" ... if they aren't Jesus Christ, I wouldn't trust them with a good chance of success. ° More than one of those these days, no need for namedropping.

What was the Real Problem?
That the transgender was admitted?
Or that Kamilla Nagy was admitted?
Was she forced there? Would she have been alive otherwise?
Did she really need it, or was a diagnosis over-dramatising what in other circumstances than modern psychiatry would have been labelled "throwing a tantrum" or some feminine stuff? I've noted, psychiatry seems to discriminate against women. Or "for" if you consider diagnosis as a benefit, but that's purely theoretical to the advantage of caregivers who wouldn't like to lose patients.
No, I don't mean they say "if we keep this man, or woman, we get ten € more per day", I rather mean the criteria by which they keep a man or woman and the ones by which they didn't keep the woman or man 60 years ago (DSMH is growing thicker!) make a difference between keeping c. 100 % and keeping only 5—10 % ... and that would affect their work opportunities.
With this in mind, here is the story:

On Avoiding Decisions in Desolation (Fr. Nix)
Avoiding Decisions in Desolation, Part 1: Generalities
https://www.padreperegrino.org/2023/04/decision1/
Avoiding Decisions in Desolation, Part 2: Specifics
https://www.padreperegrino.org/2023/04/decisions2/
I obviously endorse the rejection of gender change surgeries in part 2. I'm less sanguine about Jordan Peterson, though he's on the right side in this issue.
As to part 1, I think some are misusing a very important adage here, by faking facts about me.
In time of desolation, we should never make any change, but remain firm and constant in the resolution and decision which guided us the day before the desolation, or in the decision to which we adhered in the preceding consolation. For just as in consolation the good spirit guides and counsels us, so in desolation the evil spirit guides and counsels. Following his [the evil spirit’s] counsels, we can never find the way to a right decision.—Spiritual Exercises Rule I.5.
Some people think that all of my existence as a homeless has been one single desolation, so any decision I take now, per definition, is one to avoid. I obviously heartily disagree.
But on top of that, some who have for years on end ignored my actual and longstanding decision will, when confronted with it, pretend it's one reached (or adumbrated in a hopefully non-stable manner) recently while under desolation.
- To marry. Some may know that parts of the last millennium, I thought of becoming celibate, monk, priest or both. In fact, I did a check-up (in non-ideal circumstances) by writing a monastery. They said no. That's it for me. This was 25 years ago, in early 2000.
- To marry a lady younger than myself. By then I was 31. The ideal age for a lady's first childbirth is between 17 and 25. I keep getting further away from that age. So, my personally ideal age gap keeps growing.
- To avoid a job as a teacher. I have tried it. It's not a case of desolation, but of simple realism to know I'm not good at keeping a classroom together.
- To earn my money as a writer. This had been my ideal since my teens or even late pre-teens. Since then I have also come a long way in actual writing, as an essayist, as opposed to just dreaming of it. Novelist is still unreached, but essaysist, yeah, I can do that basically every day, and for a long time, lazy days can be compensated for what I have already written.
The people who pretend I should not be allowed to take that decision "right now" have in fact unjustly kept me back and in a kind of loose but nevertheless real quicksand style slavery. Their ideas on what I would ideally do instead (become a monk, enter a same sex relation, marry a divorced woman, become a teacher, as if that had been my plan A, get manual work where I would need some mentoring and consequently get a mentor) or what I would write instead if just give just one more chance to change my mind (novels with prewritten outlines and without doctrines that don't stop because I reach a plot problem or doctrine problem, essays for some other world view than my own: Vatican II "Catholicism" as per the views of the Archdiocese of Paris (pro-Evolution, against Abraham receiving tradition from Adam or even any believers at all), Spinozan Judaism, Noahidism, Evangelical Protestantism, Atheist Evolutionism fully embracing "Science" ...) are so uninstructed. There are people to do those things and defend those doctrines or write those non-doctrinal ways. I'm not that. I don't feel a need to become that just because I'm in the street. Doesn't make me THAT desolate.
The real decision to avoid on the principle given is actually to ave in to the kind of pressures I have mentioned.

I'm sometimes reminded of how some English royalty have tyrannised the lives of dynastic members. The court forcing Charles Edward to become Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and thus to be on opposite sides of WW-I. The conditions Henry VIII put on the marriage and bloodline of his sister, Mary Tudor, Queen of France to Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk. I seem to be involved with people as tyrannical and paranoid.

Dora Moutot: Why France is censoring my book
UnHerd | 1 May 2024
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws7VCMNhnuU
- Florence Read:
- 2:58 In England at least we have a kind of old tradition of second wave feminists where often they were on the left side of
3:04 politics, and they have now come into battle with this new progressive queer movement over trans rights and trans identity.
3:12 Why has France not got there? Why is it only now that they are starting to have this conversation? And why was your
3:18 book such a shock to so many French people?
- Dora Moutot
- Because first of all, French people don't speak English. So
3:23 they don't understand the debate in other countries. They don't read English, so they don't know basically. Also because all the
3:31 French feminists, I think they're very scared to talk on this subject. Some of them only speak about transgender
3:39 children, that's the only thing in France that we can talk about. It's like 'okay, okay, puberty blockers not so good'. [...]
- Traduction :
- Florence Read:
| This is kind of true about other subjects, including Young Earth Creationism.
