Racism is Wrong (Sharing)

The Ridiculous Idea of Deporting People by DNA
NYTN | 31 Jan. 2025
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Coe4qRiAlnY

I happen to have one quibble against what you said.

DNA policing has been tried and found wanting all through history, you said, no, all through ITS history it has been found wanting, but especially also on principle.

Fortunately, it has NOT been tried all through history.

In the Middle High German Parzifal or Parzival (it's pronounced f either way), Lancelot had another son, with a Moorish woman, the son of whom was Feirefiz ("fair fils" = fair son) ... who happens to be checkered in white and brown. Not very sophisticated about how DNA really works, but the point is, there was certainly no policing about it.

Equally, in Ancient Rome, Semitic and I think also "Subsaharan" populations were integrated (it was the former, not the latter who became an Emperor). No DNA policing there either. Racism is evil, but over history fortunately very rare. Just a shoutout to older centuries and their better morality! You are perhaps where I learned about Presley being Preslaar, and Disney is obviously d'Isigny ... no problems posed over foreign origins (OK, for d'Isigny, after Hastings, Anglo-Saxons weren't perhaps in a position to pose problems).

"You Can Not Be Racist Against White People, Because White People Are the Dominant Race In This Country"

Assorted retorts from yahoo boards and elsewhere: Trump Signed, God Bless Him · New blog on the kid: "You Can Not Be Racist Against White People, Because White People Are the Dominant Race In This Country" · I heard from Robert Ritchie, America Needs Fatima

Are they the dominant ethnicity (or race if you really insist) in every nook, cranny and corner of that country over the pond?

Are white people the dominant ethnicity in the Bronx? Are they the dominant ethnicity among the pupils of every school in the Bronx? In every class in every school in the Bronx? In every group of friends and pals in every class in every school in the Bronx?

I would say, if a group of black pupils, even if fewer than 50 % of the class, take advantage of a lonely moment to pick on a lonely white pupil, that could easily be an act of racism. Perhaps retaliatory racism. Perhaps a racism that makes a lot sense to them, perhaps one or two or three of them had great-grandparents victims of Walter Ashby Plecker. But the white pupil they are picking on is not Walter Ashby Plecker. Even if he descended in straight patrilinear genealogy from him, or for that matter from Lenin, Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot or Mao Tse Tung, picking on him for the sake of what Walter Plecker did is as racist as picking on a Chinese ethnic for the ill-deeds of Mao.

Now, it is true that opposition to illegal migrants is sometimes racist. It could also be classist. "The position of illegal migrant is a situation that takes a toll on someone's mental stability, having many of them ..." ... I'm not a huge fan of the idea of getting every illegal immigrant out of the US, but going for violent offenders makes sense. Going for peaceful people because theoretically they could become violent makes less sense.

The support or otherwise of Trump's policy with migrants should be based and I would say at each step, on its fairness or unfairness. Going for violent offenders makes sense. Letting some farmers hire illegally residing people as long as they are cheap and then calling for the ICE as soon as the workers would acquire rights of the syndical type or laying them off at that point and then calling the ICE, that makes a lot of less sense. I'm not saying those cases are 99 % of the illegal immigrants, but I'm not saying they aren't a good half of them either. We'll find out.

Borders have done some bad, but they have also done some good. When St. Joseph walked over the border to Judaea, which was at this point a protectorate, not yet a province, so it was a border, he probably did some successful tax evasion. When he walked over another border into Egypt, back into the direct Roman Empire, he evaded a massacre rather than just Roman tax collectors. That may explain why his Stepson, who is God, had some, shall we say, gentle touch when it came to tax collectors. The point is, once St. Joseph had taken the Holy Family across that border, Herod's soldiers couldn't follow. Btw, since he had previously resided perfectly legally in Galilee, which already was a Roman province, one cannot say he was an illegal immigrant. On the other hand, I highly doubt migrating legally took months of paperwork.

It is also obvious that there are situations where that paperwork cannot really be done from one's country of origin. St. Joseph didn't have time to send an application to Augustus' administration in Rome for a Green Card, on the Flight to Egypt. So, I'm thankful that wasn't a requirement.

Summing up: racism against white people exists, even in white countries, because the country as a whole is not the only unit where power dynamics play out. Border policies have seen hysteria from both sides of the question.

It could be a name-sake. It could even be an author of a paper. Such a thing turned out to be the case back on this occasion:

New blog on the kid: Documented by a Psychiatrist? · Correspondence of Hans Georg Lundahl: Will This Be Answered? (B)

But, what is it isn't? Then, it is addictology abused to control me, to keep me out of business as a writer. I certainly didn't write any paper on the topic. I know there are some evil actors around the area where I am who are interested in stamping me as a this- or that-addict.

Alcohol? Less than 4 cl. an ordinary day and many days none at all is not an addiction.

Other substances? I don't do them. If someone pretends to have "witnessed" me under the influence of opiates it would be:

  • while I was drowsy getting to sleep or just waking from sleep and hoping to get back to sleep;
  • during sessions of online hypnosis or offline self hypnosis
  • earlier on, while praying the rosary.

Internet addiction? A thing is not an addiction in any medically significant sense just because it releases dopamin. Doing your work as a baker or as a painter will release domamin. Doing sports will release dopamin. Working as a writer on internet is ALSO not a medical condition. Those who want to stamp it as such are the exact same people who have prevented me from getting money as the writer that I am, prevented me from marketting my thing where I stay, so that I could inspire someone to start a publishing house.

If the Iranian régime simply kills people, kills women, who refuse to wear the hijab, this is not likely to spill over into the West very quickly. I have more reason for solidarity with people who convert to Christianity. But if they use psychiatry, well, that kind of thing is already abused. Over here.

Calling Creationists Racist, with No Evidence

Denial of Evolution Is a Form of White Supremacy
BY ALLISON HOPPER, JULY 5, 2021
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/denial-of-evolution-is-a-form-of-white-supremacy/

The global scientific community overwhelmingly accepts that all living humans are of African descent. Most scientific articles about our African origins focus on genetics. The part of the story that is not widely shared is about the creation of human culture. We are all descended genetically, and also culturally, from dark-skinned ancestors.

It so happens, I don't know how dark that's supposed to be, but OK.

I want to unmask the lie that evolution denial is about religion and recognize that at its core, it is a form of white supremacy that perpetuates segregation and violence against Black bodies.

Pretty certain she has an axe to grind.

At the heart of white evangelical creationism is the mythology of an unbroken white lineage that stretches back to a light-skinned Adam and Eve. In literal interpretations of the Christian Bible, white skin was created in God's image. Dark skin has a different, more problematic origin. As the biblical story goes, the curse or mark of Cain for killing his brother was a darkening of his descendants' skin. Historically, many congregations in the U.S. pointed to this story of Cain as evidence that Black skin was created as a punishment.

OK, the problem is just this is not true.

As the biblical story goes, the curse or mark of Cain for killing his brother was a darkening of his descendants' skin.

Here is the Biblical story, Genesis 4:

10 And he said to him: What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth to me from the earth.

11 Now, therefore, cursed shalt thou be upon the earth, which hath opened her mouth and received the blood of thy brother at thy hand. 12 When thou shalt till it, it shall not yield to thee its fruit: a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be upon the earth. 13 And Cain said to the Lord: My iniquity is greater than that I may deserve pardon. 14 Behold thou dost cast me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from thy face, and I shall be a vagabond and a fugitive on the earth: every one, therefore, that findeth me, shall kill me. 15 And the Lord said to him: No, it shall not be so: but whosoever shall kill Cain, shall be punished sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, that whosoever found him should not kill him.

Now, if the mark, according to the Biblical story itself had been dark skin, we might expect this to be explained in the next verse, just after we first mentioned it, if it wasn't there. Let's go to the next verse:

16 And Cain went out from the face of the Lord, and dwelt as a fugitive on the earth, at the east side of Eden. 17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and brought forth Henoch: and he built a city, and called the name thereof by the name of his son Henoch.

Oh, no mention of dark skin ...

18 And Henoch begot Irad, and Irad begot Maviael, and Maviael begot Mathusael, and Mathusael begot Lamech: 19 Who took two wives: the name of the one was Ada, and the name of the other Sella. 20 And Ada brought forth Jabel: who was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of herdsmen.

Still no mention of dark skin ...

21 And his brother's name was Jubal; he was the father of them that play upon the harp and the organs. 22 Sella also brought forth Tubalcain, who was a hammerer and artificer in every work of brass and iron. And the sister of Tubalcain was Noema. 23 And Lamech said to his wives Ada and Sella: Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech, hearken to my speech: for I have slain a man to the wounding of myself, and a stripling to my own bruising. 24 Sevenfold vengeance shall be taken for Cain: but for Lamech seventy times sevenfold.

STILL no mention of dark skin ... was Allison Hopper wrong? Just check one more verse of the story, shall we?

25 Adam also knew his wife again: and she brought forth a son, and called his name Seth, saying: God hath given me another seed, for Abel whom Cain slew. 26 But to Seth also was born a son, whom he called Enos; this man began to call upon the name of the Lord.

Oh, another story begins, even!

I guess Allison Hopper was wrong, after all ... what is the Catholic exegesis of this? I mean about the mark? Here is bishop Challoner:

[15] "Set a mark": The more common opinion of the interpreters of holy writ supposes this mark to have been a trembling of the body; or a horror and consternation in his countenance.

STILL no mention of dark skin ??? By the way, the Haydock Bible has two comments on the verse, the above being the only one where the mark is mentioned.

What about the Protestant views? Here is Calvin, clearly agreeing with Challoner:

And the Lord set a mark. I have lately said, that nothing was granted to Cain for the sake of favoring him; but for the sake of opposing, in future, cruelty and unjust violence. And therefore, Moses now says, that a mark was set upon Cain, which should strike terror into all; because they might see, as in a mirrors the tremendous judgment of God against bloody men. As Scripture does not describe what kind of mark it was, commentators have conjectured, that his body became tremulous. It may suffice for us, that there was some visible token which should repress in the spectators the desire and the audacity to inflict injury.

Calvin, Genesis 4, verse 15
https://www.studylight.org/commentaries/eng/cal/genesis-4.html

I have trouble finding a comprehensive link to Luther's commentary, there may be different versions. Here is a history of this interpretation, which says that the idea came, not with Catholicism, not with the Reformation, but with the Enlightenment (a dark period for black people!), quote and link:

Another interpretation has a disturbing, racist legacy: the idea that the mark of Cain is dark skin. Although nothing in the Bible suggests it is related to skin color, the motif that Cain was cursed with blackness—and that black people are cursed as well—was common from the 18th and into the 20th century. Together with the more common motif that Noah’s son Ham was cursed with black skin and his descendants condemned to slavery (based on Gen 9:20-25), this interpretation of Cain’s mark was deployed to justify the slave trade, and some religious denominations in America used it to support segregation and the exclusion of African Americans from church leadership.

Eva Mroczek, Bible Odyssey
https://theturkeytraveler.bibleodyssey.org/articles/mark-of-cain/

So, again, no, not the story, just an interpretation of the story, not a currently widespread or a traditionally widespread, just a formerly widespread (among Protestants of the US) interpretation.

Shocker, it seems Allison Hopper is wrong! What are her qualifications, again?

Allison Hopper is a filmmaker and designer with a master's degree in educational design from New York University. Early in her career, she worked on PBS documentaries. More recently, she's been creating content for young people on the topic of evolution. She has presented on evolution at the Big History Conference in Amsterdam and Chautauqua, among other places. So, basically, her qualification is being an artist. Nevertheless, what she published in may give her views more credit than they deserve:

Scientific American covers the most important and exciting research, ideas and knowledge in science, health, technology, the environment and society. It is committed to sharing trustworthy knowledge, enhancing our understanding of the world, and advancing social justice.

Meaning, it will risk publishing lies by certain types of social justice warriors who have another axe to grind than against injustice ...

At the heart of white evangelical creationism is the mythology of an unbroken white lineage that stretches back to a light-skinned Adam and Eve. In literal interpretations of the Christian Bible, white skin was created in God's image. Dark skin has a different, more problematic origin. ... The fantasy of a continuous line of white descendants segregates white heritage from Black bodies.

Well, no. In Young Earth Creationism, all men descend from Adam and Eve, all have unbroken lines back to them. Nowhere did mankind start anew from someone not descended from them (even if some would say the Nephelim risked becoming that, if they partly descended from angels). And like both White and Black have unbroken lines, it is not a reason for segregation between them. By contrast, some who deny Adam and Eve are ancestral to Black, who did and do argue for Segregation, including the Klan, are Old Earth Creationists.

Now, I think a Professor of law may sometimes be less oversensitive to guilt by association over three degrees of separation than this type of artists.

Did Maarten Labuschagne Have a Right to Challenge God Like That?

I once was both pro-ANC and pro-Desmond Tutu. The Lutheran Church where I had been baptised was asking us to collect money for the peaceful projects of ANC — like schools and so.

I was at a boarding school. Another pupil, whom I was in love with, was born in Zuid-Africa. I did not know that, I asked her for a coin for ANC's peaceful project, and she told me about ... well, what Maarten found out:

After high school, Maarten worked briefly for the railway before entering the South African army for compulsory military training. While there, his distrust and hatred of other races, particularly tribal Africans, grew considerably. Army training sessions often featured footage of widespread unrest in black townships during the 1970s and 80s. The films often portrayed graphic violence, including the infamous public ‘necklacing’ of suspected collaborators. This involved placing a tyre doused in gasoline around the victim’s neck and lighting it. His reaction, he said, was always,

“These perpetrators are sub-human! Just animals! Otherwise, how could they act like this?”

I did certainly not conclude that black Africans were subhuman, just that ANC was making them act in highly unchristian ways (like the kind of things that the Christian Beowulf poet left out: he made no remarks about "Hygelac" — "Hugleik" to us — Beowulf's uncle on his mother's side, actually dying as a robber trying to pillage and possibly rape Christians). I had collected my last Swedish Krona for ANC.

But to the point:

In September 1998, in utter desperation, Maarten cried out to God: “God, you have to change me!”, even challenging God’s right to send him to Hell if He failed to do this.

My cry was mingled with doubt over whether God was real or would respond. But it was utterly genuine, a recognition that I could not save myself. I didn’t then understand the assurances His Word gives for the repentant heart, but I certainly knew that Hell was real, and I didn’t want to go there.

Did he have the right to make this challenge? This is what I asked in the title. Actually yes.

You see, he had been baptised as a child. Baptism had done two things, since he posed no obstacle by clinging to heresy or personal sins when he was baptised:

  • it had cleansed him from Adam's sin (though not cured all of the consequences, like mortality and being subject to illness and aging and mood swings);
  • it had also given him the character of baptism.

Actually, it would have given him the character of baptism even if he had posed an obstacle to being then and there justified. What does this character mean?

It does not mean that your name being written in the book of life can never be blotted out from it. But it does mean, as long as you are alive, that you have a right to ask God for the graces needed to repent. You have a personal right to call Jesus your Saviour. A person who is already justified, and who then sins mortally, certainly has no right in and of his state of mortal sin, to get justified again. However, he does have a standing through his baptismal character to appeal to God to help him out of sin.

This is obviously so whether the sin involved gang violence like that of Maarten's former life, or gang violation 1 Tim 4:11 by stamping someone else as a sinner and mixing oneselves in his affairs when clearly not asked to and when repeatedly told it annoys him. Perhaps some guys over here in Paris should take note.

As his Christian faith grew, he was baptized and went to Bible College. He was also a pastoral counsellor at one of the biggest drug rehabilitation centres in South Africa.

I was already supposing he was baptised as an infant, i e his parents were of Presbyterian and not Baptist confession. If I was not wrong, I cannot congratulate to this re-baptism, since it is objectively a sacrilege. I'd suggest he repent of that, and get out of congregations that re-baptise when the only reason to doubt an already extant baptism is, he was supposedly too young for it.

Swedes are Not Likely to be Anti-Black Racists

I cannot affirm that these people are Christians, but I can affirm that they inherit an attitude to Africa (esp. East Africa) which dates back to Lutherans in the 19th C.

Most is spoken in Swedish on the video, but there are English subtitles.

One of my past love interests back when I was in Sweden was a girl who was the daughter of a Lutheran clergyman, she ended up marrying a black man (from Africa itself, or his parents were). Another one grew up in Kenya or Tanzania, in a missionary family, and her nickname when she was small was Dada Mzungu in Swahili. In both of these cases, to actually get the girl, I would have had to convert her to Catholicism, once I had converted myself, and in both cases I failed. But one thing I do not dislike about Lutheranism is how they have a really fraternal attitude with the Blacks they are missionaries among. No colonial white supremacy things, you learn Swahili and you learn to eat with your fingers, if you go down there. And you raise your families like that too (Lutheran quasi-clergy being normally married and often examples in having more than two children)./HGL

PS, two more things. I'd probably be too squeamish about camel milk to get out in the bush, and the other one is, since MAF is mentioned, and the abbreviation has different meanings in different places, this is what is meant:

Citing Mark Shea on the Prejudice of Certain People he Considers as Racist

New blog on the kid : Citing Mark Shea on the Prejudice of Certain People he Considers as Racist · HGL's F.B. writings : Mark Shea : For Kaepernick AND For Tebow

Attentive readers of the blog may know, I often read Mark Shea. So I did today.

When white people* do well in this country, it’s because of their hard work and pluck. When the black president reminded them that the infrastructure of this country was not their doing, but was the fruit of immense state efforts to, for instance, create the colossal interstate system under Eisenhower or electrical grid under Roosevelt, he famously told them “you didn’t build that”. The ginned up Right Wing Lie Machine outrage over that supposed insult to hard-working white individuals resounded for weeks. How dare the black guy suggest we owe a thing to our country? We hard-working independent white people did it all with no help from anybody.

And when those white people march under the banners of the two regimes–Confederate and Nazi–who spilled more American blood on the Stars and Stripes than any other, our Traitor -in-Chief calls the marchers “very fine people” and pretends he gives a crap about the American flag while he calls the black protester Kaepernick a son of a bitch.

But when black people do well in this country, they are instructed to be “grateful”. They are where they are because we white people allowed them to get there and they would be nothing without our generous patronage and support. They didn’t build that. We did. And we might just take it away if they get too uppity.

Don’t ever forget that double standard. It’s one of the reasons people like Kaepernick kneel.

Indeed, there is a double standard about gratitude here.

One could of course say that the people Mark Shea refers to as Christianist have one standard - and one prejudice.

That prejudice being : white men contribute as tax payers, black men live off the dole, live off the tax payers.

And, sure, that prejudice forgets highways and policemen, army and judges are as much paid for by taxes as the doles of poor people.

It also involves some kind of "statistical likelihood" prejudice. Now, black people are perhaps statistically likelier to live off the dole and white people less likely, in US. But there are many blacks who do not live off the dole, and there are many whites who do.

So, a black man who doesn't needs to be solidaric with the black men who do, a white man who doesn't needs no such solidarity to white men who do?

Obviously false.

This kind of double standards I have once referred to as "bourgeois prejudice" to one Anthony Zarrella (I hope I got his last name right this time : memory technics, his family being Italian, and Italian language is generous in double consonants) and I got lectured on bourgeois not being more erroneous in erroneous prejudices than proletarians and no less right in right prejudices.

That was not the point. Erroneous prejudice is, first of all, diverse among diverse groups, and this one is of the type you can label bourgeois (except the bourgeoisie tends to be anti-racist, so uses it on other divisians than racial ones), and on that occasion I was simply saying what type of erroneous prejudice I was momentarily annoyed at.

Also, such bourgeois prejudice is far from absent from the proletariate - and is part of what fuels more "proletarian" prejudice. I spoke to a man who had a prejudice about "kissing cousins" erroneously thinking genetic conditions leading to lower intelligence are more a genes mutation problem (where you need same gene from two parents) than a karyogrammatic one. He put this into a Proletarian rant about monarchy being kissing cousins (somewhat true in Victorian times) and this having led to fall of monarchy in France (when there were under pre-Revolutionary Europe so many principalities and high noble fiefs that kissing cousins was mostly not a thing).

I saw Mark Shea lable the post "racism is a sin" ... I am not sure that is adequate. Chesterton once said "capitalism is a sin, socialism is a heresy" - and I think he would have labelled racialism as a heresy, not just a sin.

There may be on some non-Christian blacks a curse of Ham - since a prayer of the Church asks God to lift that curse from their hearts. Meaning, it is not a genetic curse, it is a moral one, which definitely can be lifted by Grace.

And it is not the same thing as living off the dole, anyway.

Some of my readers might know I like Mussolini, but some of the more attentive ones may also know I like him better for 1935 (when he told Chesterton he despised racialism) and for 1936 (when he helped Schuschnigg against Hitler) than for 1938 (true, he was helping Franco, BUT he was also giving Hitler free space to gobble Austria - and sign ...), Carta della Razza.

Some of my readers may also know, I am concerned about "le grand remplacement" - fewer babies from our own countries and more immigrants to replace them - but some of the more attentive ones may also know, I have not argued being mean or stupid to the immigrants already here is a solution. I have argued making more babies is a solution. And with or withut immigrants, a necessary one, you know old age pensions don't get automatic value (despite some Proletarian prejudice) just by being paid in advance when the pensioners were still working and laying aside. Real value has to be produced for real value to be consumed. An old man may occasionally drink a Burgundy from when he was working, but he is not likely to eat crackers from when he was working.

L'article

Capacité crânienne, la wikipédie

donne pour "homme moderne" les chiffres 1100 à 1700 cm3. Son synonyme

par contre précise:

The balance of findings for human brain size, largely based on participants of European ancestry, indicates an average adult brain volume of 1260 cubic centimeters (cm3) for men and 1130 cm3 for women. There is, however, substantial variation;[1] a study of 46 adults aged 22–49 years and of mainly European descent found an average brain volume of 1273.6 cm3 for men, ranging from 1052.9 to 1498.5 cm3, and 1131.1 cm3 for women, ranging from 974.9 to 1398.1 cm3.[2]

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prognathisme

Petrus Camper is also known for his theory of the "facial angle" originally in connection with two lectures he gave in Amsterdam in 1770 to art students on beauty and portraiture. He was concerned with the fact that all artists painted the black Magus in the nativity with Caucasian face. He determined that modern humans had facial angles between 70° and 80°, with African and Asian angles closer to 70°, and European angles closer to 80. According to his new portraiture technique, an angle is formed by drawing two lines: one horizontally from the nostril to the ear; and the other perpendicularly from the advancing part of the upper jawbone to the most prominent part of the forehead. He claimed that antique Greco-Roman statues presented an angle of 100°-95°, Europeans of 80°, 'Orientals' of 70°, Black people of 70° and the orangutan of 42-58°, but not in an overtly racist fashion-he merely claimed that, out of all human races, Africans were most removed from the Classical sense of ideal beauty. These results were later used as scientific racism, with research continued by Étienne Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire (1772–1844) and Paul Broca (1824–1880).

Camper was the son of a local well-to-do minister, who made his fortune in the East Indies.

Geoffroy was a deist, which is to say that he believed in a God, but also in a law-like universe, with no supernatural interference in the details of existence. This kind of opinion was common in the Enlightenment, and goes with a rejection of revelation and miracles, and does not interpret the Bible as the literal word of God. These views did not conflict with his naturalistic ideas about organic change.

et Paul Broca ...

Paul Broca was born on 28 June 1824 in Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, Bordeaux, France, the son of Benjamin Broca, a medical practitioner and former surgeon in Napoleon's service. Broca's mother was a well-educated daughter of a Protestant preacher.[2] ... In 1848, Broca founded a society of free-thinkers, sympathetic to Charles Darwin's theories. Broca was fascinated by the concept of evolution and once remarked, "I would rather be a transformed ape than a degenerate son of Adam".[3][4]

Darwin’s bodysnatchers: new horrors
par Carl Wieland (ce fondateur des CMI)
http://creation.com/darwins-bodysnatchers-new-horrors

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Guerre_du_feu_%28film,_1981%29
