There is an Expression: "throwing money out of the window"

Do people actually do that at times?

This morning, I asked a neighbour who was sipping from a mug in her window if she could spare some coffee. She was drinking tea and didn't wait to hear if that was interesting. She decided to throw me one euro from the window, I said one fifty is what it costs, namely in most bakeries and bars around, and she ended up throwing me 1€30. I actually didn't use them there, but here at the Nanterre University Library, I used them in a coffee machine, 0.60 for a long coffee (American coffee, as opposed to espresso), 0.55 for a chocolate and I had some bread from yesterday in my bag, which I didn't know.

But why does the expression seem like a synonym of wastefulness?

Streets have gutters. Coins roll. Bills fly away in the wind if no one holds them.

Here is how to avoid that. A coin inside a plastic bag or an envelope can't roll. The plastic bag or envelope stops it from moving. If you ever need to throw down a bill to someone, do the same, and weight it with a coin so it doesn't blow away.

Now this is very far from saying I'd accept any kind of guardianship over my finances when it comes to receiving my heritage from mother.

The people who have pretended (yes there are some "sow Prussians" like that in Sweden) that, just because I'm still in the street have no idea what good I have been doing, to myself or others, no idea of what evils I have been avoiding, and also no idea what evils have been done to me to make my life more expensive than it need be. If lice mean you loose tissue every day, which they can mean after a long infestation and (imposed) delays in getting rid of them (people have disarranged showers and clothe washes and arranged recontamination), that means you need more food. This has led to gout over time.

Again, if you tried to print and sell my texts, you would definitely not be proverbially "throwing money out of the window" you would be first earning money for yourselves.

To some people it seems OK to deny someone a recompense for his work, just because someone could say of him "giving him money is throwing money out of the window" ... my sole and primordial task in being in the street hasn't been and will not be getting off the street as soon as possible at all with whatever arrangements in the "continuity of care" ideology. My priority has been and will remain staying sober (not meaning totally abstinent, there were uses for alcohol before the gout), and staying productive.

I have never been the hopeless man who had nothing to do and no prospects. I loose hope not over lack of prospects, but over prospect after prospect getting deliberately ruined and pushed aside by people whose false shame about my being in the street should be turned against themselves who have by this evil been keeping me in the street. I do want to get off the street as the "conspiracy peddling" (from their pov) writer I am, and not as someone "sobered up" from that as other ones have sobered up from actual drunkenness. People who want to dictate not just to themselves and each other, but to younger and freer people in their families and to other groups as far as they can influence them that my problem was some kind of drunkenness and my solution is now "documented" to not be my liberty, these people are my problem, these people are my enemies.

What's the deal? C'est quoi ce truc?
http://hglundahlsmusik.blogspot.com/2008/11/whats-deal-cest-quoi-ce-truc.html

J'espère que What's the deal?

Ceci n'est pas le cas sur mes essais, genre New blog on the kid: Is there a Fifth Corner? · Creation vs. Evolution:How Much Tectonic Movement Was There in the Flood? ou Certains lisent la Bible en anglais, même sans être anglophones ou Se souvenir est une art · Pour mes tables de carbone 14 .... Ça relève de mes droits, voir simplement Conditions, comment les imprimer/how to print them.

With the Vast Majority of Views in Commie Vietnam, I Wonder Why a Canadian is Bent on Keeping Me Back

Assorted retorts from yahoo boards and elsewhere: Influencers are not clergy, scandals aren't reasons to change longstanding discipline · New blog on the kid: With the Vast Majority of Views in Commie Vietnam, I Wonder Why a Canadian is Bent on Keeping Me Back

In case it isn't clear, Brian Holdsworth is Canadian.

How to Spot Unfit Christian Influencers

STILL nope and no again!

Influencer is still not bishop and a bad influencer, having no responsibility for the spiritual life of the audience is not doing actual damage, unless their legitimate pastors are allowing it.

I don't know anyone who lost the faith over Voice of Reason, and I don't think there will be anyone either.

Plus with this kind of thing, stating "so and so isn't living his faith very well" can become a way of silencing someone for other reasons.

[I tried to add the below, down to second quote, and the above was already gone.]

Uh 1:58 Mike Winger, who is a Protestant 2:00 apologist with a prominent YouTube 2:02 channel, seems to almost be converting 2:04 his channel into investigative 2:06 journalism dedicated to exposing moral 2:09 corruption that he is aware of in 2:11 evangelical Christianity. And already he 2:14 has a lot of pretty upsetting stories to 2:17 tell.

Sounds a bit like what would interest Calvinists.

1) There is no formal spiritual direction, except a collective one.
2) There is no sacrificial clergy.

MEANING

Every pastor among them is first and foremost an influencer, like a Rabbi or an Imam.

This in turn means, influencers are seen as pastor wannabes, and obviously scrutinised accordingly.

PROBABLY

at some point, someone told someone who then told someone, there is compromat on me from my past, and if I'm accepted as an influencer, it will come forward.

"And that will damage the faith"

No, I don't think it will, and I don't think the amount of compromat is quite what some think it is.

I'M GETTING PRETTY TIRED (and sick too) of being told while not being told why a prolific an intellectual apologist in my case has absolutely to be kept back.

I'm being told it by suggestion. But I'm also not being told it, because you are not specifically mentioning me.

AND it is not as if I just imagined being held back, it's 14 700 + posts, over six millions of views*, very few changes of mind, a pretty solid word count per day, and I am not being answered, not being promoted, but also not explicitly countered.

The non-explicit countering involved in not answering me (while by suggestion still answering me in private) is pretty close to what Pope St. Pius X described as a "conspiracy of silence".

*[The viewers from mainly Nam last week, see Trois semaines. The week to 21.I.2026 has 31,01 k overall, but 7,55 k from Nam. AND the week to 4.II.2026 has a total of 36,09 k, but of these 21,79 k are from Nam.]

"I've often felt 0:40 dismayed by the culture of celebrity 0:42 that gets attached to evangelistic work 0:45 and and all the trappings that come 0:47 along with it, which, let's be honest 0:50 here, they're utterly incompatible with 0:52 apostolic work,"

Oh, yeah?

Venerable Fulton Sheen? So much of a celebrity that the Dracula cape in Tomb of Dracula is arguably based on how he wore a cape once upon a time.

And good friends with precisely another celebrity, Billy Graham.

You are arguably calling one of the two following celebrities, also good friends with each other, a Pope and a Saint: Wojtyla and Dalai Lama (yes, Tenzin Gyatso is still wearing that title).

Incompatible would mean Fulton Sheen and Karol Wojtyla were doing Evangelism wrong. I'd agree about Wojtyla, but for a very different reason or set of reasons. But probably you'd neither agree about Wojtyla nor Sheen, meaning your sentence is in contradiction with your positions otherwise.

What's an Apologist?

https://filolohika.blogspot.com/2019/09/humanists-uk-vs-history-id-say.html

Metatron is responding to Destiny after the latter responded to one by Metatron, where Metatron had taken up one by Destiny from 2019.

Apparently, the one by Destiny to which the last one of Metatron is, he complained that Metatron had taken up one from as long ago as 2019.

Destiny's basically presuming everyone, including himself, changes opinions very much in six years and is no longer responsible for what he said 6 years ago. I disagree. If I have not explicitly revoked sth I stated six or twelve or eighteen years ago, or earlier than that, you can presume I still hold to it.

In other words, I hold myself to a higher standard than Destiny holds himself to. Want to refute any of above? Be my guest and try. But before you just assume I may have changed my mind, here are more recent posts agreeing with each of above. That's why I numbered them, numbers match:

Yes, we do in fact owe civilisation to Catholic believers who would today be classed as Fundamentalists, and not to Freethinkers, over most centuries.

The changes freethinkers have made as of recent centuries are often enough not to my taste.

A question, Sir.

Does Young Earth Creationism add value to your life?

If it does, I think you should care. Whether you believe it's correct, are curiously on the fence or passionately opposed, but not into the marginalising tactics.

If it doesn't, you are not the kind of person (I don't mean "mental type" or "genomic type", I mean social type) whom I'm writing for, and so you are not in a position to tell me whether my writing will or won't add something to someone's life.

Oh, I'm solving more than one problem in Young Earth Creationism ...

It seems you have a tendency to limit essay writing to personal (real life) experience.

I HAVE heard a story, which I have never verified either by history or topography, otherwise known as being on the spot, to the effect that the French Academy accepted the accident of the absence of Molière from its records with a magnificent gesture. It may have been only a tradition about something that somebody planned to do; it may even have been only a tale of somebody about what ought to be done; but it is exactly the sort of tradition that would represent the nation; and it is exactly the sort of thing that Frenchmen would or could have done. The French Academy, founded by Richelieu for the establishment of classical literature in the country, naturally passed over a wandering play-actor and playwright like Molière; just as Oxford and Cambridge would have passed over a wandering play-actor and playwright like Shakespeare. But here the story, even if it is only a story, strikes the note that only the French can strike. For it was said that the French Academy erected in its inner courts a special statue of Molière, with the inscription “Rien ne manque à sa gloire; il manque à la notre” ... and if you want to know what is the difference between the atmosphere of France and England, both of them very jolly atmospheres in their way, you have only to imagine anybody making, or even anybody suggesting, a public apology of that sort to Shakespeare. Can you imagine a huge statue of Shakespeare in Balliol Quad, inscribed with the statement, “Shakespeare never went to Balliol.” Can you conceive even Cambridge rearing a colossal monument to Dickens, to celebrate the fact that he never had a University education — or indeed any other education? If that story about Molière is true, or even if it is a true parable or fable, there is an obvious moral to the fable. The English rather ignore defeats; the French rather exaggerate defeats; but the French do sometimes have the talent of snatching victories out of defeats.

I HOPE it is not a secret arrogance to say that I do not think I am exceptionally arrogant; or if I were, my religion would prevent me from being proud of my pride. Nevertheless, for those of such a philosophy, there is a very terrible temptation to intellectual pride, in the welter of wordy and worthless philosophies that surround us to-day. Yet there are not many things that move me to anything like a personal contempt. I do not feel any contempt for an atheist, who is often a man oflimited and constrained by his own logic to a very sad simplification. I do not feel any contempt for a Bolshevist, who is a man driven to the same-negative simplification by a revolt against very positive wrongs. But there is one type of person for whom I feel what I can only call contempt. And that is the popular propagandist of what he or she absurdly describes as Birth-Control.

LAST year, the representative of all that remains of the Holy Roman Empire was murdered by the barbarians. As an atrocity it has been adequately denounced; and it breeds in some of us rather a dumb sort of disgust, almost as if it had been done not by barbarians but by beasts. Perhaps the only further fact to be noted, on that side, is the fact that this is the only kind of effort in which these clumsy people are not merely clumsy. The Nordic man of the Nazi type in Germany is a very slow thinker, and incredibly backward and behind the times in science and philosophy. That is why, for instance, he clings to the word “Aryan,” as if he were his own great-grandfather laboriously poring over the first pages of Max Muller, under the concentrated stare of the astounded ethnologists of later days. He is slow in a great many things; as, for instance, in releasing prisoners who are admittedly innocent; or in answering questions put by foreign critics or Catholic bishops. We have good reason to know that he is slow in paying his debts; to the point of ceasing to pay them. He is very slow in bringing about the Utopia that he promised to the German people; the complete financial stability and the total disappearance of unemployment. He is slow in a thousand things, from the length of his meals to the lengthiness of his metaphysics. But in one thing he is not slow but almost slick. He is swift to shed innocent blood; he really has a certain technique in the matter of murdering other people; and the prospect of this sport alone can move him to an animation that is almost human. Hitler really killed quite a creditable number of people for one week-end holiday; and the assassination of Dollfuss did show some touch of that efficiency, which the Nazis once promised to display in other fields of activity

These incipits are from three essays within The Well and the Shallows, an essay collection by Gilbert Keith Chesterton.

He is NOT speaking about his personal experience, or only tangentially, like in introducing the subject (I have heard a story).

"You Will Never Climb Alone"

Posted on a certain door of a certain facility with a stick-it.

It was kind of foreseeable I might use that toilet.

And it is not the first time that I get the impression that things add up around me as answers to me, while not mentioning me and not purporting to have anything to do with anyone in particular.

Getting an income as a writer is per se not what one would call climbing. One might consider it climbing compared to being homeless, sure, but it is not the usual definition of climbing.

Suppose I wanted to be a trader. I would need to make a good impression on very many people, I'd need to get the trust and sympathy of lots of people, I'd need to depend on lots of inside information, and therefore have a wide network. But, in fact I don't want to be a trader. And similarily, I don't try to be a spy. I don't hope to tower into power. I'm not into the kind of things that need networking.

I also don't try to live the kind of life that a certain GM did when a certain VS was among the ones he had in some sense groomed. French people may know what I am talking about. If I came into some kind of affectionate relation with an underage girl, I'd probably try to wait till she was of age. In fact, that is part of what may have been happened, except it begins not to add up, since if that had been the problem she should now actually already be of age (she didn't state she was underage, it was my guess at the time). So, I wonder why I'm basically ghosted, if she simply thinks me totally unattractive, she could just say so ...

I got shocked that there came to be such a hullabaloo about Alex Jurado, not over a girl who is 14 now, which I could understand as having some kind of legal ramifications, in many states they would probably not be able to marry, but over a girl who was 14 seven years ago, and so is of age now, even on the US 21 years limit. He denied it happened, not saying he is lying, but if he is, the right and perfectly sufficient thing to do would be to go and marry her, unless she was meanwhile with someone else or was meanwhile in a non-Catholic religion.* Or a nun.

If Catholicism in the US is so Puritanic as to find someone unacceptable as an Apologist for something that happened seven years ago and apparently didn't lead to anything beyond sexting if that's not a fabrication, then getting along in US Catholicism might need more networking than I thought. It's not as if he were Abbé Pierre. If it had happened now, as I thought yesterday and beginning of today, I might simply have advised them to go to a state where she could marry at age 14. I think this is way more important than state run support for exposed mothers to be seamlessly pro-life. The legislations from the Progressive Era are putting 14 year old unwed mothers in harm's way.

But I happen to not be in the US. I also happen to be in the country where Abbé Pierre was active. I also happen to be not exclusive on Apologetics.

Now, Abbé Pierre for some time was an abuser, but his foundation found out, and from that point on, they put pretty drastic security measures into place to make sure it didn't happen again. They may have heard a rumour of someone assessing me as a pedophile (some Swedes** would do that for my words about marriage of 14 year old girls), have identified the Apologetics part of my writings wrongly as an attempt to make my living as a kind of religious figure (I'm in fact a layman and hope to marry), and put some of those security measures into place about me.

That would be abusive. If I were the victim of such a network, I might need a whole network to break free from it.

But I'm going to talk about breaking free from networks now. Other than that of Abbé Pierre. And apart from breaking free from that one, if needed.

I have stated more than once that I'm a writer. That does not mean "I want to be a writer later on, when I have learned" it means some things are already being read and are on my view perfectly fit for print. (Obviously not on the view of certain US Catholics). It also doesn't mean I want to be any kind of writer that a network might decide on. Where I come from, writing is not foremost done on the orders of a network and also not to suit a network. A writer who did that would on my view be like a pub that served the beer of only one big brewery (I think such tying of pubs is illegal now, unless a pub is directly owned by the Guiness factory, it cannot be contracted to serve only Guiness, good as that beer is, it can however be obliged to serve Guiness according to Guines standards). You walk in, you hope to find any beer that the good taste of the pub owner may have inspired him to acquire, and you are shocked to find he cannot serve Kilkenny because he has a contract to Guiness. You maybe find Kilkenny preferable to Guiness. You may find Michele Guiness is wrong about Palestinians of Gaza (her bias would be understandable, if not correct). And yet you cannot get your Kilkenny, it's either Guiness or water or remain thirsty. That's a tied pub, and they don't exist any more. I don't want to be a tied writer any more than some pub owners want to be tied pubs. Or if, then to a local brewery (again very natural if the brewery and the pub have the same owner).

So, I don't want to be tied to novel writing alone, just because a network thinks my essays are worthy to be reused in certain facilities. In novel writing, if I take it up again, I don't want to be tied to the Isaac Asimov style, just because a network prefers that to Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, authors that still mean a lot and meant even a lot more when I grew up, to me. In music composition I don't want to be tied to an obligation to be able to play what I write, because a network thinks a composer who can't do that is a fraud, and I also don't want to be tied to the Schönberg style (which may have provoked the prejudice just alluded to ... a pianist who writes for piano in the Schönberg style at least is supposed to have tried whatever he wrote on his own ears, I tend to prefer well explored harmonies over those of Schönberg, not to mention Stravinsky or Alban Berg***).

Similarily, as a Catholic, I cannot be spokesman for a network of Jews, Muslims, Freemasons, Evangelicals or so, even informally, in my writing, unless very partially, like saying "some Jews could be in or preparing for the state of grace, since a Mass Conversion is upcoming" when Sungenis says it isn't or like saying "an Evangelical doesn't need to be Anti-Catholic very actively or even to deny the Real Presence," when some Catholics say they do and even associate Young Earth Creationism with that, for that reason. No, I don't affirm Hislop's cranky ideas and I also don't deny Holy Mass. Currently, partly no Mass in Paris is celebrated in communion with Pope Michael II, partly at certain parishes (I would say both an SSPX one and a Novus Ordo one), I would be putting myself at risk if they ally with psychiatry, about like going to Mass in LA may be risky for a Latino, simply because the priest can't block ICE out from all precincts.

So, do I actually need a big network? It could be useful for distribution, but as to produce something in a sellable and buyable form, I'd need one musician able to make a monetised music video or a few persons doing selection of texts plus some minor other editing and printing and binding, when it comes to essay collections.

I'm not looking for things as big as power or as classrooms. I'm not that kind of climber. If they say "you cannot climb without us" either that's an unintelligent observation or a criminal menace to my liberties.

PS Some guys are, very clearly, pretending to be giving me advice about a carreer I could chose, shouldn't chose and haven't chosen yet. I get this video suggestion: Monetising Your Hobby Really Is A Terrible Idea (Apologies to Abby Cox) after which I come to this one: Monetizing Your Hobby is a Terrible Idea. In fact, I have already chosen writing as a carrere, a long time ago, I am doing it as full time work, not as a mere hobby, and I am keeping it up while being exposed to harrassment at work, like a brawl breaking out outside the cyber right now, so no, it is absolutely NOT that I have so far been doing writing as a hobby and absolutely am not prepared for what it would take to have it as a work. I am doing it as a work. I am just being prevented from earning money from it, by slanderers who pretend I am squandering time on a hobby instead of doing work. There very clearly is a network hellbent, and I chose that word very deliberately, on preventing my writings on being sufficiently widely read to make an impact on society and so also sufficiently widely read to allow me sales of pages of paper so as to give me an upkeep. I have not taken their mark and they are forbidding me to "buy and sell" in the sense of making money independently./HGL

** I left Sweden too late to have stayed out of legal trouble there, and no, the trouble was NOT about grooming or attempting to do so. It was self defense against psychiatry, more specifically against a policeman having brought me to a doctor for examination (against the doctor too, but that wasn't added to the charges).

*** I may add, I made a bad experiment in the Stravinsky style, back in 2005, got it played and was shocked it was in fact in the Alban Berg style. No, I don't have absolute ear and don't know exactly what my compositions sound like until they are played. But I did know that composition should not have been played in a church, and am still bitter not only that my venture became dragged into a sacrilege, but also that this is still held against me, as if that sacrilege was my fault. I did try to stop the man from playing it on the organ, I was not more clueless than that about what I had written. This was within five or six weeks after Corpus Christi.

"Words are cheap," they say, "they are a dime a dozen" (well, actually, at that rate ...)

Production February 2025, 120 738 words, 120 738 / 12 = 10 061.5 dimes, or 1006 USD 15 cents.

It wouldn't be a windfall gain either. January, 129 238 words, 129 238 / 120 = 1076 USD 98 cents.

Up to April*, not counted yet.

May, 133 793 words, June 62 694 words, July 71 459 words, August 83 674 words, September 129 703 words, October 132 300 words, November 101 299 words, December 105 901 words.

Eight Months
133 793 + 62 694 + 71 459 + 83 674 + 129 703 + 132 300 + 101 299 + 105 901 = 820 823 words.

820 823 / 120 = 6840 USD 19 cents.

Anyone citing the proverb, do you have ...

Gestalterna hade sina förebilder i verkligheten.

Diverse People are Pretending I'm Irresponsible, And Have No Idea of What I'm Doing, If I Think I Can Live as an Author

Some people like to spread rumours.

For instance, someone yesterday gave money definitely intended for me, and she was unsure if she should call me "Monsieur" or "Madame" ... I am not transsexual, I was also not born a girl, so, the answer should be obvious. Given I have a beard, I am somewhat surprised she wanted at first to call me "Madame" ...*

But that aside, some people who are not themselves into writing or selling books seem to have been given very precise ideas about what I would really need to do in order to be a writer.

One of them was, get a business, a SIRET. My hunch is, this does not necessarily come into play as long as I'm not earning very much. Here is a view I just found on youtube:

Do I need an LLC to publish my book? | Author LLC Requirements

1) In order to be a writer, there is no requirement to actually have an own limited liability company;
2) but after some degree of success, after earning some degree of money (which came to the novelist who made the video 4 years after her début), it can be very useful to you.

While requirements might vary from country to country, this should be valid for France** too.

"He obviously wants to self publish, why doesn't he just go to Amazon KDP?"

Assorted retorts from yahoo boards and elsewhere: Yes, One Can Be a Writer Without Affording a Secretary · I Think I Know What I am Looking For as Income Pretty Well · A Psychologist Pretended to be Expert on Fact Checking Skills · Language · New blog on the kid: "He obviously wants to self publish, why doesn't he just go to Amazon KDP?" · Diverse People are Pretending I'm Irresponsible, And Have No Idea of What I'm Doing, If I Think I Can Live as an Author

I have actually (probably more than a year ago) been tipped about Amazon KDP.

I concluded back then it would be a trap, for other reasons. Here is how M. K. Williams describes a trap I hadn't even completely reckoned with:

now it's 5:52 been a year and Amy's book is selling 5:55 well on Amazon she has great reviews ...

when she goes to take those same 6:18 files and the same ISBN and upload them 6:21 elsewhere she can't because Amazon owns 6:23 [that] ISBN and the other platforms won't 6:25 accept it so she could fib and cheat the 6:28 system and use a new free ISBN but when 6:31 the bookstores who want to stock the 6:33 book or the libraries search for that 6:34 book it comes up as a totally new book 6:36 with no reviews

NEVER use the "free" ISBN from Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or any other platform! | Self-Publishing Tip
M.K. Williams | 27 March 2024
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojSAxJzk1Zs

The one self publishing I am in fact doing is, for free, on my blogs.

The re-publishing, which would be read by people paying to read, should be:

  • in physical books on paper;
  • by editors (myself in principle not excluded, but that can't happen as long as I have no appartment, and I prefer to have no appartment from the social system, since that precludes giving your flat as adress of a company including obviously a publishing company) and not on the Amazon KDP market
  • possible exception for a local self publishing company where I can negotiate conditions.

It should definitely NOT be a question of push-button publishing. For the reason stated above, but also:

  • I have by my conditions given a right to every reader to become my (traditional!) publisher (already extant traditional publishers not excluded), and self publishing by Amazon KDP or any similar platform for pushbutton publishing would automatically deprive them of that right, since I would enter a contractual obligation to have given no previous copyright related obligations;
  • I know that Pope Michael I used Amazon KDP to republish old books not by him, apart from the copyright implication in pretending a booklet of Nine Papal Condemnations of Heliocentrism (with pre-Conciliar Imprimatur!) was a book by himself, he also fared ill in the sales, and if he concluded "that's how things are" I'm not with him: I think the processing of feeds on Amazon, including Amazon KDP gets some manual input, and I think that those inputs did not favour the visibility of his republishing. I told him he ought to make a publishing company, with paper editions. Apparently he didn't (or at least he didn't extend to me to republish things of mine, despote having vetted lots of posts as doctrinally sane).

So, anyone who pretends that I'm simply too lazy to do the proper initiatives to get my things going, or incoherent, is wrong. I am simply not volunteering for walking into booby traps that do not serve my purpose, and that could hinder it a lot later on.

Now, a French publishing company did publish a French translation of Revd. Victor P. Warkulwiz.* A Catholic (and Novus Ordo, or just possibly Extraordinary Form, so, to Novus Ordos, a priest). They were selling through Chiré. And I contacted Chiré to ask whether they were reprinting it. That's when I discovered Chiré themselves were not that publisher, and the publisher was a no longer extant company. I tried to get hold of them and the new company who had bought their rights was not answering me. So, the French translation for his book is for copyright reasons tied up with "épuisé chez l'éditeur" / "out of stock with the publisher" ...

This is one of the things I try to avoid by my conditions. "Everyone who wants" = no exclusivity on the copyright. You want to publish my Geocentric stuff and go broke tomorrow? As long as you comply with the conditions I've expressed as applying for most of my blogs (three from 42 are no monetary remuneration sought for, all three of them are small), that's not a problem. Because the day after tomorrow, someone else could want to publish them, and you had no exclusivity but just a general licence. Which equally applies to the other guy. When he wants to take up the cause you forsook (by choice or by weakness), he's not hampered by the rights I gave you, because those rights did not exclude him.

Now, some guys in traditional publishing, but ALL platforms for push-button publishing would not see it this way. "If I don't get exclusivity, why should I send you royalty" ... well, a general licence, if you take action and profit from it, is worth something. I even leave it up to you to decide how much it is worth and how much you can afford (intended mainly as a bonus to young aspiring publishers). That's why voluntary royalties are also part of my conditions.

I know perfectly well why I am making the conditions I make, and I also know that I am NOT in a very clumsy and naive way expressing a wish to actually go e-book through the process of push-button publishing. Now you should know that too.

There are other ways in which people have pretended to "question" my ambition to be a writer. Am I a megalomaniac gambler who thinks I can become as famous as Tolkien? Whether I can or not is not the issue. This time of history is not so measly against authors that only the very, very, very best and most known can survive. 5000 authors and translators were having that as their insurance policy for old age in France, back in 2016. I am very certain that you don't know 5000 contemporary people in France who strike you as equally famous as Tolkien. Probably not even 5, certainly you don't know 5000, and that alone makes them less known than Tolkien. Even so, they gain a livelihood from writing and translating books.

Or other way, a writer needs to write every day, could this homeless man really keep up a writing routine? Stephen King writes 2000 words per day, Neil Gaiman 1500. For September I published over 4300 words per day.**

But I think the main pretense for "not taking me seriously" in my project to get my blog posts republished breaks down to three. The one closest to this post is already dealt with, I have conditions that exclude pushg-button publishing, and I have conditions that are probably not attractive to most big traditional publishers.

The other two would be:
  • who'd be interested in reading what a homeless person has to say?
  • why should YEC and Geocentrism be published?

To the first, I'd answer it should by now be a very interesting thing, since I could have been off the street 14 years ago, if certain other people (at St. Nicolas du Chardonnet) hadn't totally blocked all my attempts at getting a publisher through the parish. So, if fourteen years on a row I remain homeless because of a refusal to publish me (not just that one, but several since then), I think this puts the question on its head. Except to some Hindoos who'd think being homeless shows a bad karma incompatible with the good karma necessary to be a writer. Is that the real rationale for that parish?

To the second, I'd answer, because it's true. It's Evolutionism and Heliocentrism that deserve to find no publisher. If lies find too many publishers and truth finds none, how is that not being in the last days, when those refusing to take a mark cannot buy or sell? But the form of the objection boils down to a left wing "holy war" on "disinformation" ...

So, the perfect excuse for the enemies I have, those who think homelessness should inspire more modesty than shown by writing, and those who think Christianity should not be accessible, is to point to some fatal flaw or omission in what I did myself. There isn't that. There is just a huge amount of people keeping watch and blocking around the very correct initiative I took.

Are Some Catholics Testing My Resignation?

Check this clip by Michael Lofton:

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/IqJlleA4d3w

There are LOTS of disappointments that fellow Catholics, clergy and lay, could have spared me over the last decade.

Michael Lofton certainly knows I am watching, I have reached out to him with comments since October, and he hasn't answered. Including on e-mails.

IF some clergy want to test my resignation, for one reason or another, and IF they would in doing so want to remind me I need to resign to God's will, which seems in line with some things they already did, Michael Lofton would certainly be someone they could use as a mouthpiece, and he doesn't need to mail me because they know and he knows, I am watching him, and won't miss this clip.

Now, on certain types of venture, testing someone's resignation might be an idea.

Bl. Lucy of Narni had stigmata, and she definitely was tested to the utmost as to her resignation.

St. Bridget of Vadstena was certainly a less resigned person, but her patience was tested too. She was a prophetess, and behind papacy returning from Avignon to Rome.

Stigmata and prophecy are supernatural things, charisms, they come from God. And the Devil likes to fake them. And doing one's work for God with such a life may take the whole life, so being resigned up to when one dies is actually not a loss. And one symptom of such things not being from God but faked by the Devil is lack of resignation.

I have not claimed any such strictly supernatural vocation. I am a writer, not a prophet. I want to marry, not be a monk. I want to feed my family from my writing, not just my own person from God's providence providing a bare minimum. I am not denying God has kept me alive. But I feel very sure someone else than God is keeping me back. And it so happens, God keeping me alive in such a case is repairing for me, just part of what certain others are destroying for me.

That destruction would for instance involve:

  • clergy pretending I'm heterodox
  • when this doesn't work, pretending my writing is prophecy
  • and that the prophecy must be tested
  • which involves testing my resignation "to God's will"
  • which can be done by exposing me to evil men's will. Like their own.

It would also involve clergy pushing this before laymen, like my colleagues in apologetics, like Michael Lofton, like Matt Fradd, like Trent Horn.*

Considering how much Jimmy Akin has spent on attacking a truth of the faith, namely Adam being created directly from the soil, not procreated by non-human parents, and its by now apparent corrolaries of Young Earth Creation, I am not sure I'd consider him a colleague, and the same goes for Karl Keating.

All of above certainly have profited from support from clergy. But none of above are employees of clergy. Some of them have patreon for their videos on youtube as a major income. This means, being an apologist for the Catholic faith does not depend on being promoted by the clergy. It is not a clerical or monastic state. It is in a very real sense private enterprise, and there is no canon law against that.

This means, trying to test me and test my spirituality "before allowing me to become" a Catholic apologist is simply robbing me of the income I could already have as the Catholic apologist and writer that I am. Or at least, it is basically doing that, I am not a prophet and can not answer for whether some of the guys were under some kind of pressure, like Putin telling Bergoglio he would invade Ukraine if I weren't held back (with a fine shade of irony in posing as "the one restraining" and casting me for the role as someone who can only appear when "the one restraining" is out of the way). Wait ... Ukraine already is under a threat of invasion and parts of it are invaded ... no, that isn't it.

It is a very evil habit of certain cults on the Evangelical side, and ma and me went out of one when it began to show signs of it, to try to run the lives of lay members. It's an even more evil thing to do so by intriguing for disappointments and then doing emotional blackmail or even gaslighting against one not satisfied with the results of their actions. If Catholic clergy start doing that kind of thing to people, and it seems they may have done so, that is a sign, among some others (like accepting Evolutionism) that they are not Catholic any more.

    • le nombre de textes est tel que pour un texte non remunéré il peut y avoir d'autres éditeurs qui font des éditions rémunérés sur d'autres textes;
    • la non-exclusivité fait qu'un éditeur qui ne me remunère pas ne peut pas même empêcher d'autres à éditer le même texte;
    • et la possibilité de commencer sans de me remunérer permet à des start-ups - même en français on appelle des entreprises en démarrage ainsi - de me remunérer plus tard, quand leurs finances seront mieux (sans que leur demarche prive bien entendu d'éditeurs plus avancés comme entreprises à éditer d'autres textes).

Copyright Laws and Casuistry

"Ultracrepidarianism" · Who Coined the Term, Anyway? · Copyright Laws and Casuistry

A. Copyright Law and Catholics
https://www.betrayedcatholics.com/free-content/2-ethics-in-catholic-writing/copyright-law-and-catholics/

Here is a little thing I disagree on:

None of what appears below — in whole or in part — may be used without the express and written permission of the author.

Why do I disagree? Because, this is contrary to:
a) the age old practise prior to modern copyright laws
b) the content of current copyright law.

To the latter, she feels we are obliged:

As Rev. Francis J. Connell, writing for “The American Ecclesiastical Review” stated in the 1950s: “Theologians agree that the civil laws upholding the right of an author to the benefit of his writings and forbidding others to publish them without permission bind in conscience, because such laws are a reasonable determination of the natural-law right of a person to the fruits of his intellectual genius, (Aertnys-Damon, Theologia moralis, Turin, 1950)…When a writer plagiarizes, publishing as his own what is taken from another’s published writings, this is a sin against justice… a mortal sin if [harm] is great…One who illicitly publishes another’s writings, or portions of them, to the financial detriment of the author…is bound to restitution. Some hold that this obligation binds only after a court sentence, but the more probable opinion is that even prior to such a sentence, this obligation must be fulfilled by the guilty party, (Aertnys-Damon).”

Now, the civil laws of the United States, whereof Theresa Stanford Benns is a citizen, do agree for fair use excerpts, even without prior permission.

I do not intend in any way, shape or form to present myself as having myself written what T. S. Benns wrote. But whether myself or Pope Michael (whom she helped elect) or Introibo blogger (who compared her to a surgeon forgetting a scalpel in a patient) should have the right to criticise and therefore quote her conclusions.

Now, let's be clear on some backstory. She quoted a Casuist as saying:

The following is taken from “The Casuist,” Vol. IV: “All theologians are agreed that an author or writer, architect or draftsmen has a strict right to the fruits of his genius. And this right of ownership in the fruits of one’s intellectual labor is founded in the law of nature. For if it be the law of nature that men have a right to the labor of their hands, with much more reason ought they to have an exclusive right to the labor of their brains. And if the good of civilized society requires that a man be secured by law in the peaceful possession of whatever property he has acquired by his industry, with much more reasons must we hold that the good of civilized society requires that men be secure in the peaceful possession of that higher and more valuable property, namely the results of intellectual and artistic talent. ... The editor quotes Rev. Tanquerey as his source for these comments. The editor also adds that such theft is a sin against the seventh commandment and full monetary restitution must be made.

In old Roman law, your ownership to a text ceased the moment someone else held it in his hand. This means, if you wanted to make a profit, you made a deal with a bookseller. He made a payment, you had your money and now he owned your text - a bit like comic strips writer selling to newspapers. Once the bookseller had sold a copy, he could not stop anyone else from actually copying and selling as freely as he liked.

In a royal privilege, during the Ancien Régime, in order for authors to be able to devote more time to their second work, the Ancien Régime arranged that (for a period of ten years?), the author had monopoly on the monetisation of his text, and any bookseller wanting to use it needed to have an arrangement with him. For inventors, the patent law was somewhat different, the author of an invention had 15 years right to his invention, and it was forfeited if within 1 year he had omitted to take measures to make it fruitful.

As to literary authors, writers, there was a "formalisation" of such rights (concerning theatre authors) by the laws of the French Revolution: 17th Jan. 1791 gives control over performances for life and up to five years after death as to his heirs, 24th July 1793 reproduction rights for life and ten years after for his heirs.

Who was this Rev. Tanquerey? Did he live before the French Revolution? No.

The Reverend Father Adolphe Tanquerey, S.S., D.D., (1854-1932) was born in Blainville, France and joined the Society of St. Sulpice at the age of 18.

He was not a historian, not a Medieval scholastic, possibly not even a canonist. The one work by him that always turns up is:

THE SPIRITUAL LIFE
A TREATISE ON ASCETICAL AND MYSTICAL THEOLOGY
by the Very Reverend Adolphe Tanquerey, S.S., D.D.
https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/spiritual-life-12635

According to Barnes and Noble, the passage quoted being from there, he also taught Dogmatic theology:

His best known works include the three-volume Synopsis Theologiae Dogmaticae and comprehensive one-volume treatise The Spiritual Life.

Barnes and Noble : The Spiritual Life: A Treatise on Ascetical and Mystical Theology
by Very Rev. Adolphe Tanqueray S.S.D.D.
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-spiritual-life-very-rev-adolphe-tanqueray-ssdd/1121811519

It is possible he was also habilitated to speak on moral theology as to the copyright legislation, and did so in a less known work, but it is also possible that in that area, "he spoke as an ultracrepidarian."*

Now here is a thing I do agree on:

Many have questioned the “proprietary” attitude of Catholic writers today who copyright their works and insist that others honor their wishes concerning the use of their material. In doing so those questioning this right seem to intimate that such behavior is not in keeping with the Church’s own attitude on the matter. Far from being the case, it was the norm prior to the false Vatican II council for Catholic writers not only to copyright their works but to be paid for their writing.

It may be mentioned, I totally honour her wish to get paid for her work, I do not intend to reprint and sell it without her permission. I do not think anyone printing and selling this essay would be pretending to reprint and sell her work, since it is my work, commenting on hers.

Today, “Traditionalist” Catholics seem to think that writers should be happy to donate their works to the “movement,” or to posterity for the sake of the faith. This is not a choice as much as it has become a reality. Few outlets exist for those writing about the true faith, and what outlets there are can seldom afford to pay its writers.

This is a thing I have intended to mend. What has been blocking me is also a liability to others.

Note, the description depends a bit on how far from the true faith you think some Novus Ordos are, who in fact are making money from Apologetics (Mark Shea comes to mind). I would say his "Making senses of Scripture" is at least in the risk zone (I haven't read it, but kind of judge by what he said on literalism on other occasions) of putting the spiritual senses above the literal one, not just in importance for the Christian life, which is true, but also in veracity information given, which is false. But "Mother of the Son" would arguably be a very good book on why we should honour the Blessed Virgin precisely as we do.

I have actually not approached TAN books yet ... I maybe should. However, when I state (as I do) that Theistic Evolution involves either a total shallowness about what Adam as first man means, or a fairly depraved view on how he "grew up" once you start to accurately think about it, I have fears, this would not be the top priority of people who accept as Popes the Theistic Evolutionists Wojtyla, Ratzinger, and now Bergoglio.

I have approached Pope Michael, and I think it is somewhat reckless of him to allow Amazon to make not just the printing, but also the marketing of his books. Like the US bishops can rely on TAN, like the pre-apostasy papacy (and the antipopes after them) can rely on Libreria Editrice Vaticana, like the French speaking bishops of France and Belgium can rely on arrangements to publish books at once in Paris and in Leuven (spelled Louvain in French), so His Holiness should have a bookseller who actually serves his interests for the faith, not just a contracter, Amazon, largely run by (and manipulating algorithms against him) people who are total strangers to the faith. I also found it somewhat disingenious to make a new catechism, as he did a few years ago, while loudly claiming he stands by the Catechism of Trent and the four versions of the Baltimore Catechism (by Fr. Januarius De Concilio), and while neglecting apologetics, not to his papacy as such, at least his site is still vocal about that, but to things he has stood up for, like Geocentrism and Young Earth Creationism. The latter being where I come in. I stood for both while I was still a Palmarian (before October 2002). My going from Palmarian to moderate Feeneyite, from Feeneyite to Ratzingerite "at last a pope materialiter and formaliter" from that to Romanian Orthodox (Neohimerite jurisdiction), from that to FSSPX, from that to briefly wavering between Sede and Ratzingerite and from there to accepting Pope Michael the last seven years, all this has not affected my idea, that the Church Fathers and Scholastics were right, and so is a plain reading of the Bible, and modernism is wrong.

Speaking of Young Earth Creationism, and Geocentrism, we may see some kind of rationale in Introibo blogger's relectance against him in what he used to be:

I'm a former New York City science teacher and current lawyer, so why am I writing a blog on theology?

New York City - so blue state. What can we know of science teachers in blue states? They usually promote Evolution (but he could have refused and lost his job over that**) and they nearly always to absolutely always promote Heliocentrism.

My own arrangement about copyright is actually a limited version of Creative Commons with voluntary Royalties as an option for remunerating me. There are six or so accepted versions of Creative Commons (with or without requirement of faithful reproduction, for attribution, for non-profit use only***) and my own version would be a seventh - no requirement of non-profit only, but instead an option for voluntary copyright royalties.

I do not think T. S. Benns can complain of anything I stated about the content of her text to be incorrect, since I used copy and paste, and I also do not think she could reasonably pretend I am (if this be printed and sold as books) earning money from her work.

Now, her rationale for a requirement as given being:

It is only logical to ask anyone intending to use a work to which considerable time and research has been devoted to request permission to use it. That way the author can check the posting or printed material to make sure the copy agrees with the original. Anyone whose intentions are honorable concerning such intended use of another’s material should not object to asking permission and allowing the author to check the resulting use. It is the responsibility of every Catholic writer to see that if their work is quoted, it is quoted properly.

Well, the quotes are by copy and paste, and the opportunity to check them, and contradict my use, if she judges it fraudulent, or careless, or otherwise incorrect, is given in another way, namely a notification. Introibo will have one too, even if he will arguably not bother to publish it in the comment section.

As I have already alluded to my copyright conditions being a species of Creative Commons, namely attribution and text integrality (but not original format°) required from anyone pretending to give my text, monetary use both allowed and encouraged, and this especially in relation to voluntary royalty payments. Obviously, giving my text and commenting on it are two different operations. But some people who think I need to be objected to (since they disagree with me) and who may have read me (during three months, the daily readership of my 40 blogs, big and small, has been 1700 per day, somewhat under 1000 of which from France) have been unnecessarily shy of citing me with a reference to where my text is (for the moment being, that's the internet). Perhaps due to a mistaken idea that even citations would require my previous permission.

To be fair to T. S. Benns, before the internet, a prior request was actually needed : the paper publication once printed could not be modified after criticism of a cited author, and so the request meant "I intend to publish a book on paper, and I would like to have your permission to quote you, so you can check I am not misquoting you" - any quotations made prior to such a permission would have been only in the citing author's manuscript, and hence unpublished, private use, and he would have been able to rewrite the manuscript after permission of the cited author depended on this. In this era of internet, I am by definition not mis-citing (unless it be by strategic truncations°°) any passage, since I use copy and paste, and by definition, if T. S. Benns feels mis-cited, I can change the post afterwards to suit her requirement of exact citation - if only by adding a PS or in the case of very bad errors a square of warning above the text.
