One piece of land you are basically thinking Ukraine should leave to Russia is Sevastopol.
It's a port. Submarines as well as ships can be put into the sea from there.
Ukraine has no nukes. Russia has nukes. You might prefer Sevastopol in Ukrainian hands. When Zelenskiy tried to warn you about sth, he might not have been thinking of his own cards, but more like seeing the ones you might be putting into Putin's hands.
One thing you want for your own country is more Christianity and less abortion. And perhaps not too much increase in Islam, I don't know.
Here are religious stats from wikipedia, you can obviously go to some Departments of the foreign office and get much more accurate numbers, but you might at least want to look at these, just to give you a hint:
Russian Federation
Religion (2024)[6][7] | Ukraine
Religion (2018)[3] | |
64.4% Christianity
61.8% Russian Orthodoxy 2.6% other Christian | 87.3% Christianity
21.2% no religion | 11.0% no religion
9.5% Islam
1.4% other[8] | 0.8% other
3.5% undeclared | 0.9% unanswered |
Official statistics put the number of abortions at 450,000 in 2020. As of 2021, the abortion rate was 12 abortions per year per 1000 women aged 15–44 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_Russia | In 2018, 46 552 abortions were performed in Ukraine, including 400 abortions experienced by minor individuals. 61 048 abortions were recorded in 2020, including 42 044 abortions experienced by women aged 20 to 34, 1 835 by women aged 18 to 19, and 538 by women aged 15 to 17. Girls under 14 had 35 abortions JurFem: Abortions in Ukraine: what does the state guarantee? Russia 2020, live births: 1,436,514
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Russia | In 2020, the number of births decreased to 293,000, reaching rates not seen in a quarter century. Mass emigration and property destruction caused by the Russian invasion led Ukraine's birth to drop still further: it was 28% lower in the first half of 2023 than the first half of 2021. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Ukraine
450 000 / 1 436 514 * 1000 = 313 abortions per 1000 live births.
Confirmed: The abortion rate in Russia stood at 314 procedures per 1,000 live births in 2020. statista: Number of abortions in Russia from 2000 to 2022 https://www.statista.com/statistics/1034529/russia-total-number-of-abortions/ | 61 048 / 293 000 * 1000 = 208 abortions per 1000 live births. |
I would say, if you are moderately honest about your goals for the US, and don't want either nukes from submarines to your soil nor to Germany, Italy, France, Ireland, Scandinavia, you might want to hope Ukraine wins, even without your active support.
